This. Why would he stay after all this? He's going to bolster his look and walk for more cash and a starting gig.

So I was thinking IF Trey makes it back it's year four... Would the niners pick up a 5th year option on a qb that played four games....

He'll wind up being a bust and the 9ers will cut their losses..I'd be shocked if he starts another game in the NFL.

You can decline and negotiate a fair two year extension. I'm thinking top 3 pick money on a 5th year is pretty big time cash. Id decline and negotiate the two year extension. The advantage of a rookie deal is almost completely blown. At least try to get 3 years of Trey starting on a manageable deal before the salary explodes. And I'm saying the salary explodes because I think ultimately Trey will be fine.

To evaluate what we have in Lance so far, does this seem accurate? Some below was known when we drafted him and a few additional things have been found out. Obviously a bunch of question marks still too.

Pros:
Strong arm
Likeable guy - teammates seem to like him
Appears coach-able
above avg. mobility
Keeps eyes down the field when scrambling

Cons:
Accuracy
Long windup/release
hesitant with reads and scrambling
Poor mechanics
Mobility not as great as some may have thought it would be coming out of college
Touch
Injury prone

This will give Trey time off to get his body ready for the punishment of a running back for next year. They should talk to a dietitian and get him 25 lbs of muscle for the grind of a nfl running back has to endure. The good news is, his arm never hurt from arm fatigue after his starts.

Sure.. Jimmy leaves next season then what? I can't believe this happened., No development for another year with bionic ankle and no play time next year? We needed a forfeit growth year. I know folks don't want to hear that but now next year growth year. Then hopeful year after next?

That QB power should only be done a couple times per game. It's absurd to do it three or four times a quarter. Unless playoffs.

Agreed. This sucks for Lance and our future outlook.

I never liked Trey coming out the draft, but he showed ton of improvement in his limited time , I thought he was in for a solid season.

extremely bummed that we gave up so much for him , and he's only started 4 games in 2 seasons.

I think they almost have to.

This is pretty much the worst case for us. The 1st game against the Bears was difficult to evaluate because of the weather. And the 2nd game he barely played and got hurt. Last year he got hurt against the Cards and the preseason. We don't even know if he can stay healthy. And we needed at least a few more games this year to have a good idea of what we could possibly have in him going into next year.

i just cant understand how kyle didn't see this coming
