You do realize this could have happened on any play, a sack, a rollout, a broken play, he could have injured himself at home, on the practice field, when he's out and about, this isn't a fireable offense, ridiculous, people wanted this element, athletic QB, now we want Shanny gone? WTF? He'll be back(both) next year, this is like Dak's injury, if Dak can come back, so can Trey, his future isn't over, he can still be the franchise QB, people underestimate how far we've come with injuries, medicine, Bosa looks stronger than ever and he tore his ACL, to write Trey off is ridiculous.

Yeah I don't think you're understanding what's the real argument here.

No one should be saying that it's Kyle's fault that Trey got injured.

But you better believe he shoulders the blame for Trey's lack of experience/development. Trey needs to have building blocks for him in the passing game. All of these run calls weren't getting Trey better. Now it's two seasons where he's had very little building blocks and next season it will be an issue as well.

I don't want Kyle fired because you only fire someone if there's a chance to improve. That's clearly not the case rn. But Kyle has mishandled Trey's development very poorly if you ask me.

Can we stop the "it could happen on any play" stuff? When you drive home drunk and hit a tree, do we say "oh well, any time you drive you could be in an accident" without acknowledging the obvious choices that increased the probability of a bad outcome?

The best way to decrease the probability of an injury is to not play football.

Montana's back injury and elbow injury were also on option runs, right? Brady's ACL? Palmer's ACL? Right? RIGHT?
This is a setback plain and simple and this is on Kyle calling a QB run up the guy on second and 8 is plain STUPID so Right now

Nobody is asking you.
it's bizarre than your QB1 goes down and the odds of a successful season go up.

Yup. I sat here all season arguing against running Trey on designed runs for this reason. Sure there will be times that a QB needs to run but yo willfully but them in a situation to get hit is just stupid.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.. the more you contact him the more likely this will happen. We ran him into NFL front sevens like he was made of granite. It was stupid, considering our investment.

I still just don't understand. I was hoping to see Trey use his legs to move the pocket, play action bootlegs, etc. Not this.

We knew the option would be part of the plan as well. It just sucks that he got his foot rolled like that. My sister broke her ankle in a tug-of-war like that once. Kind of a freak injury.

People need to stop calling this a freak injury. Freak injuries occur when there is no contact. When you run into 300+ pound men on a consistent basis, there is nothing freak about it. They will break your bones.

There's a reason I'm replying to AB and not you. His opinion I respect.

My heart is broken for this kid. And for the future of this team.

I was just looking through my pre game pictures of Trey...minutes later he's done for the year.

I will say the crowd was chanting, "Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy!" so that was pretty dope.

The future of the team comment is what I was rolling my eyes at.

Future with Trey. He'll heal but you don't think this has a profound effect on our future here?

I think you are, again, immediately going to the worst case scenario

I think Kyle might have been disappointed in Trey's development. And the best way to play him and maximize his effectiveness this season is to use him like a HS gun run QB.

even if thats true

everyone and their grandma could see trey would get hurt eventually, just a question of how badly
Is it time to apply the "injury prone" label?

no cuz Kyle issued that himself

Result of contact. The more contact he has the more likely something bad will happen. Contact happens in the pocket. You try like heck to avoid it. You don't volunteer your qb up the gut here you go take shots at him.. it's moronic beyond belief when you spend three years worth of picks on him.
