Well, some things we did/do know. QB's running into big, mean and violent defenders definitely increases chance of injury.

Trey was drafted for his ability to force 11 on 11 football with his running ability. That's been covered by Kyle 800 times. I talked about how Kyle brought Trey in for this and people interpreted their criticisms of Jimmy as reasons Kyle wanted Trey.

Treys injury sucks because the offense Kyle spent the entire off-season planning for a Trey Lance offense and Trey needed the reps, badly.

Jimmy hasn't had any off-season with the team, hasn't even had practice reps with anyone other than PS and 4th stringers and will now have to lead an offense rebuilding it's playbook as 2/3 of our RB's weren't here last year or our IOL in their positions as well as our 4th and 5th receivers.

It's only week 2, we're #1nin the division and we still have a highly talented team with a QB that we've ended in the top and top 4 in the league so it's not like 2018 where we were stuck with Beathard/Mullens.

The fact that this was legit our plan is baffling. I thought we drafted TL to be a FQB who can kill teams from the pocket.. maybe give us that off schedule no one is open threat.. you see Mahomes run 7 yards and hold the ball out as he's going out of bounds all the time.. stuff like that.

To think great football minds sat around and thought it wise to spend three ones to use their QB like an RB.. when we can't keep RBs healthy to save our bleeping bleeps .. lord ..

We were never going to be the Chiefs or the Chargers amd throw it around a ton.
In 1994 Mike Shanahan had peak Steve Young with the #1 offense in the league. We were 18th in passing attempts and 6th in rushing attempts.

In 1997 Mike had HOF Elway, the #1 offense they were 20th in passing attempts, 4th in rushing, if I remember right.
In 98, 21st in passing attempts. 2nd in rushing attempts.

In 2005 the Broncos went 13-3. They were 25th in passing attempts, 2nd in rushing attempts.

In 2012 WAS was 30th in passing attempts and 3rd in rushing attempts.

2013 and 14 Falcons were 3rd in passing attempts and 32nd and 27th in rushing attempts.
2016, under Kyle they were 26th in passing attempts and 12th in rushing.

2019 we were 30th in pass attempts 2nd in rushing.
2021 30th in pass attempts and 6th in rushing.

People have extrapolated our pass attempts rankings to Jimmy. It's a Shanahan thing. We were never and will never be a pass heavy team under Kyle and win. We only pass it a lot when the run game isn't working AND we're behind.

Those who thought Trey was brought in to throw the ball around didn't understand the Shanahan system.

Remember too, in 1994 there were only 28 teams and in 97 and 98 there were 30 so those rankings are even lower than they first appear.

I think 49erFaithful6 meant that he expected Lance to operate from the pocket as a passer with running being secondary to that, rather than running him 13 times a game. And I agree with him.

Extend plays, move the pocket, playaction into a bootleg....things like that. Not running between the tackles double digit times a game.

And I've been saying since we drafted him that he was going to be used in the run game a lot. Kyle said it.

Yall told me I was salty over Garoppolo saying Trey was gonna run it a lot. I got told, maybe not by you but others, "why would we draft a qb 3rd overall not to throw it and use him in the run game? Lol". Like I was an idiot.yiu may have expected him to be used like Herbert and Mahomes, I didn't. I fully expected what we saw this season and have said so.

Assuming no ligament damage probably not as bad as ACL which requires reconstruction of the ligaments. He'll need pins and screws in ankle but in my mind that's better than actually taking muscle and grafting it. But I'm no doctor

Pins and plates will take around 3 months. An undisplaced fracture 5-6 weeks. Depends on ligament damage and exactly on what bone is fractured.
I feel so terrible for him. I think Kyle was going to let him throw more and more as the season progresses. His breakout game was coming. This was just a really unfortunate thing that happened. If people are arguing and trying to place blame on Kyle or Trey or jimmy somehow then that's immature and stupid. We need to rally behind Jimmy and fans need to kum-baya together the rest of the season. This is the hand we were dealt and arguing about this freak thing is pointless
Very unfortunate for Trey. The offense was moving extremely well the first 2 drives. The throw to Wilson was great, taking a hit and delivered the ball on target.

Also for the people saying he is injury prone after this, really? You can't consider broken bones injury prone. The Cardinals game yeah he got injured but this was a broken ankle. Anyone that has a fatty land on their ankle like that would break their ankle. Just like Jimmy's ACL you can't hold that against him and consider freak accidents injury prone. Now Jimmy's other injuries yeah but not ACLs or broken bones. Trey might be injury prone but to call him that after a freak broken ankle is stupid

Its gonna be blame Kyle all year. Every time Jimmy throws a pick or gets sacked, they'll blame Kyle for not having Trey.
Poor kid, I hope he is a fast healer. Thank God we had Jimmy instead of having to throw Purdy in there. What a terrible spot of luck for everyone involved.

Only from a certain group. Most understand that it was a freak incident that happens sometimes. It sucks, but people get hurt in contact sports.
But did you sleep at a Holiday Inn last night? Seriously this is a one year rehab?

Its also pretty disgusting to watch people celebrating his injury on here, Facebook, twitter. I understand that you are loyal to Jimmy and think Trey is a bust but to celebrate a 22 year olds season ending injury is pretty f**ked up. He seems like a good guy and I think people forget these are people not little pawns. I don't remember anyone celebrating when Jimmy tore his ACL or got injured in 2020.

Since this fanbase has become so toxic since the 2021 draft. It is just as toxic as the current political climate. You pick a side and root for other side to fail and you for some reason hate the other side with a passion. You don't have to hate Trey to support Jimmy and you don't have to hate Jimmy to support Trey. Celebrating his injury is as disgusting as rooting for Jimmy's injury last year.
Problem is not that you are right, but the fact that our new toy is already broken and we never really got to play with it.

His injury looks Garrison Hearst bad. Hope he doesn't have any complications, good surgery and recovery.

People sure did celebrate when Jimmy got hurt in 2021 and Trey was gonna come in.

Celebrating injuries to players, period, is effed up. 1000x more so when they're on your own team.

I personally haven't seen a single poster celebrating his injury. Im pretty sure that's not thought highly of by the mods either.

Be great if Lance can get back ahead of schedule, but realistically, assuming he returns to actual game action September 2023, he will have played just 4 complete games of competitive football at any level in the proceeding 3 years and 7 months.
