Niner "fans" all over Twitter wanting to trade him.

do they think we would get our 3 first back? Would we even get a first back?

Capital on Lance has already been spent. It's gone. Plus, he's still young and the injury shouldn't be career ending. Why not let him finish off his rookie contract and see where it goes.

I have a hard time seeing this team embrace a rookie QB and all that comes with it to be honest.

The jubilation that I see coming from his teammates when Jimmy is in the starting lineup was pretty remarkable.

They are going to embrace him coming back from injury. If anything, this might build a stronger bond going forward.

Because most fans are irrational and live in a instant emotional world. Very influenced by media as well

This is the reason why I want to distance myself from all the noise, even on (or especially) this forum. It's week 2 I am exhausted by the negativity here and in the media. I'm just going to take what the team does and says at face value, focus on gameday and this season and see where things go for Trey and the team next season. No point arguing with irrational people that want to quit on the kid so soon.
We shouldn't have never traded to draft Trey Lance if this was the outcome to it all Jimmy G seems to have the players back n it showed it was evident that the players love n respect Jimmy G more

You would have a hard time getting anything. We were kinda going against the grain of the NFL with a run first QB who we want to do a lot of interior rush stuff.. I don't know any team that's looking for a run first QB.. it's a passing league. What baffles me is if you are going against the grain.. not doing what the rest of the league is doing.. you shouldn't have to pay a premium.. there are a lot of guys with high end run traits who get passed up every year for not being elite throwers.. Malik Willis in round 3 comes to mind. He runs as well or better than Lance imo.. fraction of the cost.

good points there. It was huge swing for the fences. I don't see another team spending big capital to take over that endeavor, when they can just draft their own guy to mold like the player you mentioned Malik Willis.

I think the bond will automatically be stronger with Jimmy gone. The guys have been with Jimmy most of their careers who course they support Jimmy and have a strong bond.

Agreed.

Kyle wasted his rookie year, then gets him killed In his 2nd year.. what should we expect from him In year 3? Still Inexperienced, still has a question mark over his head. We can only hope that Kyle actually allows him to be a QB and not a Rb

Using him like to full back is just stupid. IF you don't trust him to the throw the ball consistently ( On a 2nd &8 at the Sea 18) then don't play him. Using his legs to make plays and by time is reasonable, but designed run plays up the middle with expected contact with DTs and linebackers coming down hill is ridiculous. I dont think I have every typed a critical thing about Kyle......this was idiotic.

Agreed.

It was only a matter of time and here we are with Lance on I.R ( as many predicted would happen even before the season began ) and once again, Jimmy leading us Into battle.

Using hindsight it probably would've been better to have drafted Parsons and picked up a legit backup for Jimmy.

What's bizarre is the concern with JG was not ability it was reliability. We basically drafted TL for a FQB who wasn't going to miss so much time with injury.

Of course they love jimmy more. They are friends with him and made deep playoff runs with him. Trey is the new guy and they haven't played together yet. But to think that the team was against Trey is stupid. They were put in a rough situation with Jimmy being brought back. Choose the new guy or the your friend and QB for several years. It is impossible to win over a locker room fully with the old QB there. Which ultimately ended up being the right decision bc Trey getting injured.

Yes

With hindsight you definitely take Parsons or whoever at the original pick and keep your picks. Maybe draft a 2nd round QB. Bc the offense Kyle designed for Lance is not good. I don't think Lance was a bad pick at 3. I think the trade up to 3 and putting Trey and Kyle together was the issue. Terrible fit so far. I blame Kyle and Lynch 100% bc they traded up for a QB that they don't know how to use.

I am still under the impression that Trey can be a good QB

Knee jerk reaction like what happens with every young player in this team. We didn't even get to see what shannahans offense was with lance.

I put myself in a player's shoes who has been through the ups and the downs with Jimmy, played with him all the way to a Superbowl & NFCCG, been to battle with him for YEARS, laughed with him & cried with him, etc. I can totally understand why it would be hard to be "OK" with a 21 year old drafted to replace him and take his job in year 2 without demonstrating that he can play better than Jimmy. That's probably why Trey didn't become a captain, the veterans wanted him to earn that badge not be forced into it because of what the organization paid draft capital-wise to get him. I would probably be one of those old vet happy to see Jimmy back on the field with an opportunity finish what he started. I have a suspicion that Jimmy is going to take a big step forward this year... this really does feel like an epic story brewing.
