lol he still has 3 more years.
I don't think he plays another down for the 49ers. We are sticking with Jimmy. Imo

do they think we would get our 3 first back? Would we even get a first back?

Capital on Lance has already been spent. It's gone. Plus, he's still young and the injury shouldn't be career ending. Why not let him finish off his rookie contract and see where it goes.

Mark my words, before the regular season is over, fans will find a reason to turn on Jimmy again and say "Cant wait to see Lance back on the field next year for a fresh start."

Reality will set back in when Jimmy has one of his trademark disaster games and everyone will be like "This is why we drafted Trey! Same old Jimmy!"
I still think drafting a QB was totally reasonable, but there was no QB worth a trade up like that at 3. You wait and take whoever falls to you or if you get nervous you can trade up a few spots to make sure you get someone you like. Otherwise, if 4 QBs get taken before your pick, then that means a great position player falls to you and you take him

Jimmy would have to play out of his mind this season and end it with a SB victory for that to happen.

Heres hoping he doesn't have one.

they drafted Lance because of Jimmy's lack of availability
The fact that Shanahan didn't even seem remorseful about it is kind of ridiculous to me. Dude broke his ankle running up the gut and he says it was justified. He's been running this dude between the tackles every time he gets on the field, does he think he's indestructible or something? He's a QB and he runs upright, he's going to get wrecked just like he did yesterday. If he wants to run him why not send him outside the tackles where he atleast has a chance? I hope Trey bounces back and looks incredible but this is not how you develop QBs

It's a 4 year deal. You have a 5th year option but it's expensive. 2 years are done. After year 3 you are either picking up year 5 or not.

All about context. If the defense drags the 9ers to a SB and they win it with special team plays and defense why would you pay 30+ million on a multiyear deal for that? He's gotta be Saints 2019 Jimmy in the playoffs for that.

Eh, the QB carousel keeps moving on and on. It's nothing new.

That's what I thought. We basically wasted this kids development and now when he's back we have to make a rash decision to sign him to a huge deal on very little evidence that he's the future

This.. people have been s**tting on Jimmy for years and now he is the savior. Once the romance wears off they will be s**tting on him again. That will never end

Odds are against him now. 3 years in a row with minimal football. It's highly likely he is never effective again and likely he will never be an NFL starter at this point.

It's sad. It's Marcus lattimore 2.0 but it happens.

Hopefully he fully recovers and doesn't have any permanent problems.

I do not think shanahan is a good QB coach. I think he's going to just run him in power again if he recovers.

He needs careful tailoring to force him to throw and only take what's given to him. He is not big enough athletic enough to be used how he was.

Lattimore was a knee. not even remotely close to being lattimore 2.0 lol
