Not with Tua and Hurts they werent. Shotgun RPO aplenty.

Making pro style reads in college helps a ton with the speed of development. It's why Purdy performed so well so fast. Its the kind of experience as much as the experience.

There is a risk of drop off in play at the position while he gains experience, but on this team it's less negligible than any other, being non QB centric. The rest of the team is strong enough to win games as he gains experience. The notion that we aren't even a playoff team as long as he is under center is laughable. But it is the only argument people have to keep him from ever gaining that experience, so carry on.

It's not at all laughable, nor is a playoff appearance the goal.

Yes, the evidence is limited... especially from outside the building. But that evidence isn't indicating that this team can contend with him as a starter in his current form. It's also only a part of the point. Whether the team can contend for the playoffs or Super Bowl with Lance as he is is one question. Another would be why wouldn't you choose to play a better QB right now, who improves your chances right now? It's prioritizing a potential future at the risk of the present.

I've seen arguments you and others have made and it seems to be a common underlying thought that this team is good enough the quarterback means next to nothing. You believe the team would be a .500 team with Josh Johnson at quarterback. It's one of the few fundamental disagreements that happen in these conversations. Another would be how long people think this Super Bowl window is going to last and how easily extendable it could be.

So if you just play 4 full season of college ball making" NFL reads" ....voila .......you have an NFL QB.

BS. If it was only that simple. Give the kid some credit please.

If you watched football enough you will find that there is no clear path to success for young players. I heard plenty fom the media about Purdys QB experience in college is the reason for his success. Thats a lazy answer. The real answer is.....i dont know.

All I can say is motivation is underappreciated.

Yep. Each player has their own experience, skills, and physical/mental makeup. They are not interchangeable pieces in this way.

Ok, do you really think Kyle would knowingly waste an entire season just to develop Trey? Jed wouldn't go along with that. When the season started this year Trey was our #1, JG 2 and Purdy 3. So after watching all the guys through OTAs, TC and preseason, Kyle set that as the pecking order. This year Jimmy will be gone, Purdy may or may not be healthy enough to play, but his #1 will be healthy.

What record did you predict we'd have to start the year with TL as the starter? He was injured and our backup came in and won games. He was injured and our #3 came in and won games. So yeah, the notion that we aren't a playoff team with our #1 is completely laughable, but maybe your just here for a laugh?
What is the argument about tho? He is QB1 until the coaches choose to pull the plug on him and opt to skip the 5th yr option.

There's no competition.

If you think he's out there the only one throwing passes all summer.. you got another thing coming

we don't have a QB1

heck we don't have a roster.. 2023 team ain't even built yet.. let's not get carried away here

Trey is in a perfect situation to be motivated. . Purdy is on his ass, 3rd year, SB roster with high expectation in 2023. Time to fly.

WTF? We absolutely do have a roster, and TL is the only healthy QB on it.

That is what great players do. Take it as motivation.

The one thing i took from the Jordan Netflix thing was how he was able to motivate himself throughout his career. Chip on his shoulder all day long.

2023 isn't here yet. Do you really not know how football rosters work dude? If you're that far behind the curve on this, I'm not wasting my time explaining it to you. The players that are under contract for next year are on our current roster.
