My opinion: It is basically Brock's job unless he is no where near 100%.

FYI Shanahan could care less what the players want. He is going to do what he wants.

I completely disagree. I think every HC needs to take that into consideration.

This. And the players love and trust Kyle enough to go whichever way he decides. If Trey struggles, the team can always make a switch. If Brock is healthy to start the season, maybe there's a competition, or maybe Kyle has seen enough to make him the starter.

Im good whichever direction we go, and pumped to know that at the very least, Brock gives us another shot at the trophy.

If Brock can't go they're just gonna have to deal with it and play hard for Trey.

Maybe u haven't heard the latest,...but he's nowhere near 100%.

Not the good ones.

You still didn't name any guys Trey will be competing with for QB1 reps.

Got damn

I mean I don't blame the locker room. I'd probably be behind Brock too, especially if I was an older player. But there's a simple solution to this. Trey needs to put in the work and win over the guys with his play and leadership

That same anonymous player won't be on the 2023 roster...lol.

Don't have to name anyone, although I have put out names in the what do we do at QB thread. 100s of guys out there, draft and FA. KS sets the chart but we are many months away from him setting it. BPs status will factor also as we move forward.

Nothing major is happening, outside of the team unexpectedly moving up to the 2nd round or something for another QB.

That would tell a healthy Trey "we're not sold on you."

Other than that,....he's not going to share QB1 reps with another guy or signing when they're desperately hungry to evaluate him and make a conclusive longterm decision.

Believe it or not but players do have room to improve in their free time.

They also have room to regress,...especially after injuries.

Not necessarily.

Also, you assumed Brock won over everyone's heart but not Kyle's heart. That's weird.

I think if Kyle and Lynch can't make it work with Lance - they should strongly consider refraining themselves from deciding who should be drafted in 1st round.
Their draft record in 1st round:

2017:
Soloman Thomas - bust
Rueben Foster - bust

2018:
Mike McGlinchey - not bust but not a good pick either - you draft a tackle in top 10 - he should be a damn good one

2019:
Nick Bosa - lol if had they f**ked that up - they'd be already fired

2020:
Javon Kinlaw - bust
Brandon Aiyuk - good pick

2021 + 2022 + 2023:
Trey Lance

They should skip day 1 of the draft and enter the war room on day 2 if they fail with Lance.

This is Brock's team, he has become the leader and heart of this offense. Going to be the face of the franchise after next season.

If the whole locker room feels that way then why that player needs to be anonymous? lol

Said it yesterday - these kind of hit pieces from the media will keep coming this year again. They wanted Mac Jones and didn't want Lance and were made to look like fools. Just remember - this exact report came out last offseason too. Kyle still decided that he would trade Jimmy and declare Lance as the starter. Due to injury - couldn't trade Jimmy but kept Lance as starter until injury.

All you are doing is presenting your opinions or hopes of what Kyle will do. I'm presenting facts. And the fact is this team is non QB centric, won games with our 2nd and 3rd QB, had a great shot at the trophy with #3 even. If you think Kyle would be careless enough to risk a SB run by playing our third best option at QB, you should be in the Kyle Shanahan thread calling for him to be fired, because that would absolutely be a fireable offense. Fact remains that we'll reset, and as of now Trey is back to QB1.

When con is like this continue in circles there really isn't much point left, so we'll see how it plays out.

Go Niners! Go Trey!

You're going to continue to talk about the QB's as if they're interchangeable commodities and downplay their individual abilities. I agree the team isn't necessarily QB centric, but that doesn't mean they are QB proof. They still need at least a solid player in the position. I'm happy to move on though as it's clear you won't budge from this opinion.

As for criticizing Kyle Shanahan for how he handled the QB position from a planning perspective, I've done that. I'm not calling for him to be fired, because I think his positives far outweigh the negatives, but I think he made a serious strategic mistake in selecting Trey Lance in the manner that he did, and I think he compounded that mistake by handing the starting job to Trey this season without a legitimate competition. That's also not a judgement on Trey Lance as an individual player in terms of his potential. I think he has been put in an impossible situation.

That's exactly what it is a hit piece and low blow from Matt who is a sad to say. How about keeping it factual.. not this anonymous sources schoolgirl gossip bs that you prolly made up to get clicks. Our local media is terrible, gotta come to the WZ to get good takes.
