My opinion: It is basically Brock's job unless he is no where near 100%.

Yeah I call BS on this one.

The quote is in response to the idea that KS would bring in some veteran QB to take over the team. I don't read that as a slam against Trey Lance in any way.

I agree. This is Purdy's job to lose once he is healthy again. Any move by Shanahan to deny Purdy the chance to start again once he is fully healthy will not be popular. Players do not like it when they are playing well but lose their job to injury. They may suck it up and go on but they still don't like it and at some point down the road, it will play out badly.

You don't know that.. it is anonymous.. would be pretty easy on his part to make something juicy up.. no way to disprove.. would save him some time and he would have just the story he wants. You don't think ppl lie, when it is in their self interest to do so? Not saying he did but not saying he didn't either. Only he knows.

Yes I don't know for certain. But there's ample evidence to suggest Maiocco is a credible reporter, and absolutely zero evidence that he would concoct a fake quote and risk throwing all his credibility in the toilet.

I know, I know. He's been wrong in the past when he has opined on things related to the team (like his opinion that the team would select Mac Jones for example). But that's very different than lying about what was said to him as a matter of fact.

What's much more likely is you guys want to dismiss this and leave open the possibility that it's fake because you don't like to hear it. Big problem in today's world.

What MM didn't do is get another anonymous opinion to fact check

It's not a bad suggestion, but I wouldn't call it a fact check. It would be just an additional opinion. Regardless, I'm sure not every member of the team feels the same way about everything going on with the team. Some would probably be upset. Some may be indifferent. Some may be happy. This is just one guy's opinion.

exactly, so how can MM say it's the Lockeroom when it's just one guy saying it. MM is smarter than this.. I think MM is just trying to get clicks on this one

Maiocco didn't say that though. He reported a player's opinion. He can offer his own opinions in an analysis of the player's quote, based on the quote and his own observations or whatever else, but that is separate from claiming the player's opinion is a fact.

The only thing Maiocco is claiming is 'factual' is that a player said this to him.

Noted that this is one guy's opinion, not about wanting Purdy to start, but one guy's opinion about what he believes the locker room's overall opinion is on who should be the starting QB. It carries more weight, but certainly his opinion can be off.
This is my fear: I fear that we make a decision between Trey and Brock without getting a definitive answer on either. I want this to be a clear cut consensus answer on who is the QB of the future. This is not a decision we should jump to immediately based on only the data that we currently have. I don't want there to be any regrets on this 5-10 years from now. I don't want another Alex vs Aaron whatif situation.

Now if Trey doesn't catch up to Brock in terms of the mental game by training camp, then we might be forced to not really see what Trey can do, and that would be really unfortunate. I want Trey to catch up as much as he can without obviously getting game reps this offseason, and I want TC to be an open competition. Brock is the man but I think it's ok to make it a comp cause they are both young solid kids and they can handle it. Same goes for the team, we have a lot of high character guys, so a QB competition shouldn't divide the locker room.

Jimmie Ward approves of this message.

I agree this is more about Purdy than Trey.

LOL no he won't. His hype has not turned into winability

He played really well against Houston I thought. Despite a slow start he racked up nearly 300 yards of total offense @ 70% completion and a 116 rating. This has been addressed already millions of times but I personally can't judge him in Chicago.

Well he should have played well against the worst team in the league. However, his yardage was 249 which isn't really nearly 300 yards. What is telling is how poorly he played in the other games to drop his completion percentage to 55% and only 49% against the Bears, which was not a monsoon game just because it rained hard for 5 minutes at the end of the 4th quarter.

His stat line was solid at the end of the day, but he really didn't play that well in that game. I think the best thing you could say is he was playing better and settling in as the game went on. Our offense was a disjointed mess for 2.5 quarters of the game.

MM did say this or we would have never known. and without any consensus, probably should have never been said

Your such a tragic

It is Purdy's team

Purdy is injured, though. Trey's team at least until Purdy is full go.

Untrue. How is the other QB playing? I think that factors in...lol.

Game respects Game.

If he is clearly the better player in practices when Purdy comes back full strength (if he ever does?),....everyone will see that and it's a non-issue.

If he is not and the offense looks better with him,...again ..natural progression to the better player. No issues.

Coaches coach and players play. That's the setup and the crybabies can go find another team.
