All Trey has to do is get better at the throwing mechanics and everyhing else will fall into place. He already knows where to go to go with the ball and has the football IQ and intangibles to learn everything else pretty quickly. It's just his accuracy is off due to his mechanics such as foot work and the slight hitch in his release which again is also due to the mechanics. It's far different than Zach Wilson for example who's issue is he just doesn't know where to go with the Football and is horrible at his reads. Trey is throwing the ball to the right player the majority of the time but has just been very inconsistant at hitting them or hitting them on time.

That includes many players in the NFL...
Kinda odd how generally speaking the teams that are in the gutter, are the teams that can most afford to play young players. Teams that routinely have their eyes on the post season are the least likely to be able play their young players.
It seems in either case if you draft a Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana, Dan Marino or Tom Brady though practice or starting...they some how rise to the top.
Nothing about the NFL is fair, there is no...fair.... the only thing that matters is what the team thinks you can do, what you can do, and what you have done in the past.
I am sure the team has the right expectations, like you and NY point out.... it is us Fans that are in the wrong more often then not when it comes to expectations.
Live reps are so important for QB development. You can't replicate that. I do care what anyone says. You can do everything right in practice, knowing you're not gonna get hit or have extra time to make a play. Everything is sped up live. He lacked that experience and only way to improve is by playing at this point.
no one is talking about fair. I'm talking about not even being giving a chance when he should have more chances than damn near anyone based on his position. The capital spent and the fact that he was never looked at as a day 1 pro-ready all-star QB.

His mechanics are fine. Accuracy is more based around timing and repetition.

I agree with almost everything you've posted here, but especially the bolded.
I just want to clarify that while I would argue that the team and Lance's situation appears unfair to Lance, it doesn't matter. He should not be prioritized over maximizing the chances of winning a Super Bowl when our team is on the doorstep.

Again, he's not the only priority. If Purdy can't go because he's hurt, Lance will almost assuredly be playing. If Lance comes into the offseason program and makes major strides, and the staff feels he's a better option than a healthy Purdy, he'll be playing.
But if Lance comes in and is inconsistent, struggles, or fails to make progress, and Purdy gets healthy, Purdy's going to play.... Lance's development be damned.
He's always been the main priority. Multiple 1sts and plays the most important position in sports.
Not sure if people remember all the training camps this off season. Brock was not good. he was inconsistent. Struggled and threw a bunch of INTs. Not until he played did he show everyone what he can do. He's not going anywhere and should be allowed to get 100% healthy.
I agree this is a massive off season for Lance. Anyone just saying he's done is being foolish though.

He was good enough in TC for the FO to eat Sudfeld's contract and find a place on the 53 for him. I just posted in the Purdy thread about how Purdy had been encouraged to make risky throws to learn where the edge of the envelope was. He did all that in TC, and the limited reps he got in PS games.
IIRC, there was some talk that Shanahan/Lynch was trying to keep him under wraps so they might sneak him onto the Practice Squad. Obviously, KS saw a lot to like in TC.

disagree. You spend that kind of capital. You KNOW he needs to be developed and wasn't gonna be an all-star day 1. You need to expect ups and downs. That IS part of the process with a very young QB.
why can't we be like Philly or the Bills? you talk about a Super Bowl. Who's gonna be the QB? You think Brock is gonna beat the Hurts/Mahomes/Allen/burrow's in the league? I'm not sure I'm there with that.

No one is saying practice all a player needs to get better. But practice certainly helps with development, Warner and Ward have said as much. It's just one part of the whole process. Off-season throwing mechanics, OTA, training camp, in-season practice, live reps, all of it. If your not getting live reps than better make the most out of everything else until you get that opportunity.
at the end of the day, it's ultimately up to the player. There are plenty of first round QBs that start day one and never develop into much.

What a load of BS. Kyle, Kittle and a bunch of others have been singing Purdy's praises from the efforts he put in during training camp, off season and practice all year. They all have been saying how impressive he was.
On the other hand it is obvious to anyone who is objective about football that Lance has been underwhelming, particularly on the field where he looked like a deer in the headlights and was clearly not NFL ready.
Purdy has the QB1 job and that is where things will start in training camp and the beginning of the season.
Lance will be QB2 unless FO decide to hire a veteran QB.
I don't think it has sunk in to a number of posters that Purdy did what Lance should have done if he was to justify the trading of our number 1 picks and this Lance should have come out balling from the get go. Purdy did and kept repeating it. Purdy has the QB1 job because of his stellar performance. Lance gets to hold the clipboard.

And Sudfield was awful all the same. Dude was expendable when Jimmy restructured. They clearly likely Brock, but kyle and co said they didn't expect Brock to play they way they did when he started.
All I read was the beat reporters saying was he wasn't very good in TC.

We've talked about this before. We are in a different situation than the Bills and Eagles when they started playing Allen and Hurts. The Bills were in a rebuild, and the Eagles were in a quasi rebuild/transition. The 49ers are one of the best teams in the league now. If this was the 2017 49ers, I'd be all for it.
Outside of that I hate the comparisons with other great players. Trey Lance isn't remotely as talented as Josh Allen. Watch Allen at Wyoming. It's a different planet from anything Lance has shown. Hurts not as much, but I still think he's a superior talent, who had a superior resume coming in... the gap just isn't as wide.

I prefer Kittle's word over the beat reporters
