Perhaps he just needs to wait to garbage time to shine. That's when you get impressed by young qbs.
The great thing is no one is forcing some of you guys to be "fans" of this team nor root for our players. I see now some of you I would be embarrassed to stand next to in the presence of our team in celebrating anything because you have demonstrated a dislike for some of our players despite them being fine young men as far as we can see and despite a guy like trey not having even started 5 games. This stuff in this thread is embarrassing to see from what should be optimistic and eager 49er fans. This stuff is truly disgusting guys

If it is Trey starting I am with him and I am optimistic until proven otherwise. If it is Brock starting I am optimistic until proven otherwise. If it were Jimmy I feel the same. I am a 49er fan first so I will cheer on our guys and I am eager to see why we drafted or signed each and every guy and I do not have to be right. I just want us to win

I didn't want Mac Jones. Being that he went 15 that would've been one of the worst reaches in the first round EVER based on what was given up.

Yet if he was a 9er I'd actually root for him to succeed because he's a 9er. Rooting for failure so you can be right about your own teams player is just sad to me.

I just got through posting something similar. These guys tell on themselves. You can tell by the measure of the commentary that there is underlying bias of opinion and a complete lack of eagerness and excitement to see what Trey may be able to bring given another offseason and in game reps. Imagine if this were your kid and you'd give up on him or her so fast and naysay before they could even start. Where does this come from? This thought pattern in incomprehensible to me

I for instance never gave up on Alex Smith on any day he was a 49er because I had faith and maybe that is a fatal flaw for me being overly optimistic about all our players and our team's chances?

Therein lies the rub! The ones WANTING to be right are the ones currently not right. Assuming things will happen differently automatically.

I for one tell my kid all the time when she sucks. I push her to work harder. She thinks she can wait til the sport season starts up and just go to practice and everything is honky dory. Life doesn't work that way.

she was backup setter the previous year. The top 2 girks graduated. In watching my daughter i knew she needed to work before this season. I pushed for her to work. She refused to work on her own and what happened this year?

She lost her starting spot(assumed spot) and quit. I didn't root for my daughter to fail. It was just something that I seen potentially coming.

So like Brock and Trey, I'm not rooting against Trey. Just using my observation as to how I think it plays out

What he doesn't talk about is his son whom he's convinced is a future star volleyball player who, when he sucks, isn't told so and the blame is spread to the coach and surrounding talent.

After seeing purdy, it's clear to me Lance just doesn't have it. He's slow in his decision making, he has a slow release, he's not a fluid runner, he's not a powerful runner, he's not accurate on short throws, and most of all he's not confident. A successful qb needs to have confidence.

Yeah it's all of those and more. Purdy has all the QB categories you need. Lance is just a physical prospect they hoped would work out. But he's missing everything you really need at QB. The most important parts. His arm is relatively strong but very inaccurate. His best aspect was supposed to be speed and mobility. He is nowhere near Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields. He really does run around like a fat fullback. He didn't run so anything is just speculation. But what you can say is he is not as fast as the claims or hype.

Thats just it to me. You literally have nothing to hang your hat on with him. Except he seems to truly be a good dude. A 22 year old nice young man is literally the best things we can say about him
It's not that posters have only given him 4 games, it's that lance has only given this team and fans 4 games. And in those four games he didn't look very impressive. Team and fans are still left with hopes and prayers going into year 3, same as after he was drafted.

The good thing is that Lance has another opportunity to show fans he was worth 3 firsts and 3rd, with Purdys injury. Let's see what he does with it. His story is not written yet.

Really? He won't get much of a chance when Purdy get healthy, which will be at the beginning of training camp. Lance is just going to be a back up here and will eventually be traded or leave for somewhere else.

He definitely has a leg up on Purdy. Until I see otherwise, I don't really believe Purdy will be fully ready to go until early in the season. I hope I'm wrong because I want to see an actual QB competition.

You do understand that TC is in July, right?

Yeah I agree. He's a pretty good kid from a good family and appears to have been well raised. But not a real impressive football QB IMO.
I also rooted for Trey when he got drafted but for some reason he reminded me of Trubisky, another highly acclaimed NFL prospect because of potential but lacked in experience and only had a few college games in his resume. Just look where Trubisky is now. I hope for the positive, I hope for the best but I am just saying.

If you're observing you'd see that Trey is a helluva worker so I'm optimistic that he will be ready and I see this going well for us. Same as I would say for Brock and that same I used to say and believe for Alex Smith. That's because all I ever heard about was how hard they've worked at it

Have you been hearing Trey doesn't work?

Did trubisky have Kyle and John trade up to three to take him to the tune of three firsts? I trust our guys not to throw it all away after 4 starts being as we never did that with Alex Smith

Only difference is now there's a Super Bowl caliber roster that must be accounted for
