Have you been hearing Trey doesn't work?
I was going to edit my post and include that because i knew thst was going to be the response.
That isn't my issue with Trey. He clearly does. My issue is he is still working on the basics. Been rumored he's essentially been working on it fir 3-4 years now and here we are people still talking about what he can still learn.
IMO When you have to focus on the basics like him you can't focus on the things that make you a great QB.
What he is trying to learn now are what most QBs have figured out before they leave college. If not, they then struggle to make the leap.
Not saying you can't win with a limited QB. You can definitely do it. Trent Dilfer, Jalen Hurts, Joe Flacco and Kaepernick prove you don't have to be a good passer to take your team to the Superbowl. It can be done in multitude of ways. I just don't see greatness with Trey.
To answer your question again. By all accounts Trey does work his ass off.

bold - doesn't make me feel any better, he proved to be a big waste of time lol
underline - that's a pretty big difference there. Tough to sell "learning on the fly" when you have a very capable player ready now, that players are vouching for.
Didn't know Purdy was vastly more capable than the other two until he played. Sometimes a chance via circumstance is needed.

Based on what we've seen. Lance is getting another opportunity to show he's worth the 3 first and 3rd. Let's hope he takes advantage of it this time.

That player has yet to undergo surgery then he must rehab and once cleared get up to game speed and ready to play in an NFL game again
Meanwhile the players we have healthy will have to prepare for the season with Trey as QB1

But yes apparently he has only made 1 decent throw a game lol. There is a youtube video out there that shows about 40 decent plays he made in the 2021 season. That's quite abit when he only played 2 1/2 games. But acording to his haters he probally only made 2 or 3 that year.
He had zero points in the first half. He had one good pass to deebo. And he threw a game sealing pass into the dirt. It's embarrassing that we have to look at this game for hope. Here. Listen to this man.

There are options though.
Right now, I bet lynchie is having daily phone convo's with shanny asking him to consider what's in the best interest of the team.
And Garpo's agent is having the same conversation with Jimmy.
It stinks, it's stupendous.
its incredible, its flabbergasting.
it's the best of times its the worst of times
its yin its yang
its the agony and the ecstasy.
this is how co-dependency rolls for good or bad .
All 2023 49er roads lead to one invevitable, undeniable, incontrovertible destination.
The locker room demands it.
The qb room demands it.
Our playoff calculations demand it.
We have to renew our qb insurance policy for one more season.
don't shoot the messenger please.

I pretty much agree with this. The team seems like they'll support whoever's under center. So much noise in this thread that is based on fan preference... It's tiresome.
Assuming Purdy gets healthy during the first half of the season, what would you need to see from Lance for him to keep the starting gig? And how long would you give him to show it? (Asking you specifically because I respect your takes.)

I'll be awaiting to see who Trey will be backing up week 1. Care to wager anyone?
Fine, because I don't bet on any other man aside from myself.
Trey is gonna be starter all offseason and going into week one and I know that's gonna break some of you guy's heart ❤️.
As to me, I will enjoy the ride knowing we have Brock and hopefully a rookie waiting in the wings when needed

He has to win more than he loses and if not and if Brock is healthy we will go back to Brock by the bye week. I'm hoping that sentence answers two questions
Brock put up world beater statistics though some would say Jimmy was doing the same but with Brock I saw a visible uptick in explosives and defenders had to defend more of the field and they had to respect the long ball relatively speaking
Under Trey at his best I would expect our run game to TAKE OFF! I expect 11 on 11 and I expect guys running wide open because someone has to keep an eye on Lance as a rushing threat. I expect us to use Lance like Russell Wilson with the threat of the run on QB keeps reserved until late game and big games when needed
If Lance can be what we've drafted him for I expect a TON of explosives and that is exactly why we felt the need to move on from Jimmy
If we can see this stuff more often than not Lance will keep the job this season. If we don't see most of this happening with wins as the most important factor then Brock will be ready to take over while Trey watches and learns because we know how well Brock takes his scout team reps Vs our first team defense by how he jumped right in and played for us last season

It's everyone but Macs fault. He's established that. You need to watch him play the Bills down 33-3 to see his high level qb play.
