He got injured in game 2 so we don't know. We'll find out more as time goes forward.

QB here is simple stuff, can he do it? Ball out quick to our playmakers, let them do the heavy lifting. KS develops wideouts very well, hoping Gray can find a role maybe as a deep threat. Or we can add a deep threat. Benjamin was the 2021 deep threat, Ray Ray in 2022, could use an upgrade here, especially with TL.

I hope we just throw touchdowns and win games with Brock Purdy. Which we have proven we can do.

Glad to see this from a 49er fan in the Trey Lance thread

Whatever Trey is going to end up being as a player, it would be nice to see him at least progress enough in the offseason to where Kyle feels comfortable calling more plays for him in the pass game. I don't think using him in the run game is ever going away (that's a big reason he was drafted) but the offense hasn't felt more constricted at almost any point under Kyle than when Trey has been on the field.
I don't think that's an unrealistic goal for him in the immediate future.

I disagree. It wasn't constructed in the HOU game. Trey just took a bit to get comfortable as is expected for a guy that hadn't played in a couple years. Trey is sharp and knows the offense cold. He just needs to play and get reps and by mid season he's gonna be just fine
If by some chance he isn't we have Brock but I seriously doubt Trey is gonna fail on this team in this offense and especially after the super bowl I just watched we need Trey Lance to win it all or the best version of Brock Purdy with certain things in place

We gave up the 29th overall pick last year and the 29th overall pick this year for Trey Lance.
But it feels like we gave up two #1 overall picks when we talk about the trade. Normally if a person looked at the results and draft picks given up we would look like the winners in that trade taking us from #12 overall all the way back to #29 in back to back years. Problem here is that he wasn't on the field for it.
I hate that trade and this is not an anti TL convo.. not even talking TL.. but the idea of going back 9 picks and giving up the next two years worth of firsts is just dumb.
Pick 12 had some real players there and we could have kept all the ones.
Those picks are around 16 million a year on the cap (12, 29 and 29)
I get the idea of the draft pick being a loss. You simply don't drop that much draft capital into a project under any circumstance......but I do like the trade.
On a team that that has great players you have to make the cap work for the team.
The Trey trade, and the CMC trade (the picks and the players you no longer need because of Trey and CMC) just about pay for CMC.
To me that is win, on a team as talented as the 49ers....I love the idea of trading away 3+ million dollar gambles if you can get great NFL talent that is cost controlled.

That is very well said, this was my train of thought as well.

Agreed. The trade was a cap move as much as it was a need to upgrade the QB position. The fans who say they hate the trade never see the cap savings side of it. It would be completely different if this roster wasn't so stacked.
