How do people read these comments and think this team is still behind Trey?

How do you read it and see anything different? Trey needs playing time. Cool, just so happens the team needs a healthy QB. They like Trey on the team. Cool, the team likes having a healthy QB.

Like Trey on the team "right now"……..Right Now lmfao

Why throw that in there if he's seen as the future?

Who said he was THE future? What Purdy did last year thrust him into the conversation. IF the 49ers really do like Lance and other than playing time and injury are happy with his progress then they find themselves in an enviable position in having two young players they like and feel good about. Why does this seem like such a problem for some 49ers fans?

It's not a problem, I'm just not the type to act like something has a chance of happening when I'm 95% sure it's not going to happen. The comments they made show they are not behind him. I think it's over for him here and people get extremely mad about that lol

Ok….

Imagine the Chiefs saying that about Mahomes or Bengals about Burrow

Why? Not talking about them. Read whatever you want, but you won't have any luck convincing me to see whatever it is you think.

and even if someone thinks that, it doesn't mean we should all just fall in line with that belief. Someone gets drafted high meaning someone thinks that player has the ability but we see a ton of guys every year get drafted high and a majority of them fail to become even decent starters.

I believe I read a report that the Texans aren't looking to take a qb with their draft pick this year, so it's possible he wants him. That would be a great position for Trey because he could get the playing time he needs without the pressure of having to perform and worry of making a mistake etc. Also would be smart for us incase he does become a star, he will be in the AFC.

I haven't read anything substantial saying they're not taking a QB at 2. Only thing I've seen is random draft talk because they need something to talk about at this point for clicks. It's not like they're passing on some elite blue chip talent to overdraft a QB imo. This draft stinks towards the top. I don't think Carter or Anderson are can't miss prospects.

There is nothing smart about trading Lance unless it means we land a legit pro-bowl vet QB or a massive haul of future picks. Neither are happening so it's stupid to move him at this point. Incredibly stupid imo.

Carter is such a great talent but he seems to have the same motivation as Jamarcus Russell. lol I think stroud and bamas qb (drawing a blank on his name) have the potential to be pro bowlers if they go to the right situation - mainly head coaches to develop them. Bamas qb would be a good fit for Denver with Payton but Wilson's contract is wild.

realistically, the only way to come close to recovering the 3 first rounders we spent on him would be if he is playing at a high level, which wouldn't make sense to trade him in that situation. If he gets traded, which I still think is a big if, it'll be a conditional second round pick with the potential to be a first if Lance meets certain criteria.

i just don't see us carrying all three QBs this upcoming season. I think we draft another young qb in a late round and then move either darnold or Lance before the season starts. I think it'll depend on how Lance looks in camp - if he shows a lot of improvement, then they move forward Lance/Purdy (most likely scenario in my opinion). I'd imagine that neither Lance or darnold would be happy being QB3. The other determining point is how Brock looks on june 2. That'll determine when they have to move one of them.

You asked me why I see it different and I told you. Was the end goal to tell me you can't be convinced lol? Waste my damn time dude

I fully understand why people argue for trading Lance. They see it as an opportunity to recoup some of what was spent on Lance, and use said haul to bolster a team in "win now" mode. Okay. Totally fair and understandable point.

The problem I have with said position is I don't think it aligns with reality. Peeple keep talking like the 49ers will get, at best from what I have seen posited here, a second round pick. Even if we don't consider recent history, and I agree with the recency bias take, what are the odds, truly, of a second round pick being what puts the 49ers over the top? I think the odds of said second round pick having any substantial impact are minimal. And if we accept that conclusion, why trade Trey?

The potential benefits, unrealized as they may be, of keeping Trey, surely outweigh the benefits of a second round pick.
We're not trading TL before the season starts. Best case scenario id that TL shows marked improvement, SD shines, and BP recovers well and picks up where he left off. If that happens then we hold off on trading any of them until maybe middle of the season when some team, in contention, loses their starter and we can get a Kings ransom for said QB. If that doesn't happen we will ride it out with all three and make our decisions at the end of the season. The coaches will not allow us to be in the same position as we found ourselves in the championship game. Go back in the archives and look at what was being said about JG after his first few starts here. It's very similar to what is being said about BP. Time will tell.

I know Trey beating Darnold is what we all hope happens, but I just can't see it as the likely scenario. Trey doesn't have any film that says he's better than Darnold. Him legitimately beating Darnold out would surprise me tbh

So don't, but why does that have to equate to pissing on the parade of the people who disagree with you? Why do you seem to take such joy in doing so? You made your opinion known, more than once, why the need to keep harping unless to piss people off?

Darnold has lots of film on tape that has shown he's worse than Trey worst start.

I don't know how 4 games of tape could show any player is better than anyone else.

I feel the opposite. A guy who sees ghosts just learning the offense is unlikely to beat out a guy in his 3rd year learning said offense.

I'm not trying to piss anyone off. I didn't even bring up the topic. Just saw people talking about him getting traded and commented

Strictly from a business perspective, I don't think the team would advertise that. If darnold does beat out Trey, I imagine Trey would be moved quickly before that's public info. It would demolish any decent trade value he has.

All it means is he's played more. That is the only conclusion we can draw there. Trey might be better than Darnold, we won't know until he shows it

If ya can't draw the conclusions then it makes no sense to trade the guy barring an unrefusable offer.

This is why people think they're trying to trade him. The Darnold signing, naming Brock QB1 and laughing about trading themselves when asked about trading Trey………It really does seem like plan A for them is getting something for Trey this offseason
