Because they signed Sam Darnold? Just decided well Trey can't help us if Brock is out but this guy who has been terrible for the majority of his career is the right answer.

Why is that surprising? Trey has basically never played. The only people with a good idea of where he's at are within the organization. And judging by their actions, he's more green than they thought he would be

They are going to give time to make sure lol. Doesn't mean they have to hold onto a player that they don't see having a future

It's very premature if they move him now. They don't know what they have yet and he's only played in 4 games. If they were expecting him to come right out the gate and be lights out then they seriously misjudged on Lance. They should've known it was gonna take some time for him with his limited experience. Why draft the guy if you're just gonna give up on him right away?

They didn't think he would be the project he is.

They have a QB they can win a SB with, and Trey is so far behind there's just no point now. They aren't going to extend him based on hope. Might as well get what you can while you can

I see their actions telling me they are less confident that Brock will be healthy early in the season so they are protecting themselves from another Josh Johnson situation.

"Hey Sam you wanna come sit the bench all year? You'll really save us from another Josh Johnson situation"

That is not what happened lol. Sam signed here day 1 because he thinks he has a shot to play

I'm sure Sam does think that.

Think he was told he would be handed the week 1 start before ever practicing a down? Absolutely not.
Guess we get to look forward to Trey being dealt for some 7th round picks since we might as well take whatever is offered.

He has more value, than a 7th round pick. Your looking at a 1st round pick and maybe, players or additional picks. Your argument carries not weight.

Not my argument.

Been told we might as well get what we can Mayo.

Basing my opinion off their actions/comments from the players

Like, I said - getting what we can, means - a first, players or additional picks. Sorry, didn't mean to say it was your argument. Your just stating what you've been told.

He was top 10 in lots of statistical categories.

Calling his play anythjng but elite is silly.

What does a passer rating track? How is it calculated? I'm just curious how they come up with that number….

=(YDSATT−3)×0.25

=(TDATT)×20

=2.375−(INTATT×25)

where

ATT = Number of passing attemptsCMP = Number of completionsYDS = Passing yardsTD = Touchdown passesINT = InterceptionsIf the result of any calculation is greater than 2.375, it is set to 2.375. If the result is a negative number, it is set to zero.

Then, the above calculations are used to complete the passer rating:

Passer Rating=(+++6)×100

QB rating actually has a formula you can find unlike the stupid ESPN QBR which is apparently a big secret.

But QB rating has been proven to be a hollow stat that like any other stat can be misleading. Just look at the Pats/Falcons SB where Matt Ryan had a QB rating nearly 50 points higher than Tom Brady.

I think we all know which QB was better that day.

So while a high QB Rating is nice it shouldn't be used as definitive stat on who played better like any other stat.

Unless it fits the narrative I'm trying to push, am I right?

Aside from fans and the media I haven't heard any talk about trading Lance. All I hear from Kyle is that he will get a lot of work in camp and pre season. I don't see why they would even consider trading him before Purdy comes back and they're sure he can continue to play well. Even if they were offered a high first round pick this season they would still need to get another QB. I don't see any QBs in this draft that don't have question marks.
