Trey will get his praise when he earns it. Being bitter and trying to diminish a great 49ers performance is not the way and is not going to make Trey better

"Draft status" and "intangibles" queens are a real thing.

They have a QB they can win a SB with, and Trey is so far behind there's just no point now. They aren't going to extend him based on hope. Might as well get what you can while you can

Lol

Don't you have an Alex Smith thread to keep trolling?

Alex Smith, another player "fans" chose over the team

True. But you went about in your typical way lol. Stupid hot takes just get attention.

This is coming from someone who also wanted Alex gone.

At one point it's time to grow up?

Sorry. I call BS on that.

Then, the above calculations are used to complete the passer rating:

Passer Rating=(+++6)×100

QB rating actually has a formula you can find unlike the stupid ESPN QBR which is apparently a big secret.

But QB rating has been proven to be a hollow stat that like any other stat can be misleading. Just look at the Pats/Falcons SB where Matt Ryan had a QB rating nearly 50 points higher than Tom Brady.

I think we all know which QB was better that day.

So while a high QB Rating is nice it shouldn't be used as definitive stat on who played better like any other stat.

Lol what is all this mumbo-jumbo?

Maybe because I'm looking at this on my phone but I second NY. Hahaa

I'm assuming the icon with a question mark would look different on my laptop.

I agree, if Lance showed more in his few starts, I'd fully be onboard with him. The whole "small sample" size doesn't hold much water with me because Brock has a small sample size as well and showed a ton even in the dolphins game, which he wasn't prepared for at all.

if Lance shows a ton of growth and more of what Purdy showed, I'll 100% be on board with wanting to see what else he has. He comes off as a game manager with the ability to make some really nice plays here and there, like Dak, is what his college and few games have shown to me.

still can be a really good player in this league, there are only a handful of elite QBs in the league at a time.

a game manager with ability is still worth having on the roster, which is how I view darnold, as well.

I really hope he makes me eat crow this off season and shows out. I like that his mechanics seem to be improved, that's a positive sign. I'm hoping the pressure on him makes a diamond and not a piece of coal.

Fred Warner

"And so, just the things that you see from him and the small things that everybody else outside of the building sees from him, that should give you a good sense of the maturity for such a young player, and if given the reins, the way that he would handle it.

"I can continue to sit here and tell you how great of a person and player that he is. I've already spoken on that. But whatever it may be, I know that he is, for sure, if given the reins, that he's ready for it. He's very professional, and mature, and ready for whatever he is given."

Because 49er players are just gonna come out and talk bad about their QB.

How you don't think it holds water is the problem…Brock was a 4 yr starter in college. Him not being completely lost was natural given the number of reps he had…Lance not looking like an all-pro with 300 passing attempts in his college career and not playing meaningful football since 2019 MATTERS. Why ya'll just toss that to the side is beyond me. It matters. It's context.

Lance was NEVER about what he was his first 100 passing attempts…anyone who's objective and understands the prospect, would realize this. His long-term upside and intangibles are what mattered.

So don't use that s**t to prop up any other player all the same. Ya'll did it for YEARS when defending Jimmy. You use it for Brock…any player says something positive about Lance. "Oh they're not gonna come out and talk bad about a player."

Don't be a hypocrite or diminish it because it doesn't fit a narrative. Plain and simple. That's not directly meant for just you, just a general statement that needs to be pointed out in this ongoing stupid quest to s**t on a player that hasn't even had a chance to fail yet.

For one, there shouldn't be too many negatives about Brock Purdy right now. As for Jimmy, I remember saying the same s**t about him too. Players aren't gonna come out and talk bad about him. And it's true, don't you wish you could hear more negatives sometimes regardless of who the QB is??

Quite honestly I'm just tired of all the lip service and would like to hear about struggles. Kinda irritating when they talk a QB up and he completely looks like s**t in the Preseason. No that was not a Trey Lance reference but more Alex Smith.

Maybe it's not lip service and he actually did show them something in TC and practices? Fred had no problem calling out Trey earlier then went on to say that took that as fuel for the fire. Warner said after that he played better.

all I'm saying is people gotta be consistent with their takes regardless of who they prefer.

I believe what I'm saying. Not hot takes in my mind

I also went way harder on Alex fans that left the team

Those type of comments are expected. They have let things slip that tell me they aren't sure about him.

A 107 passer rating is elite, #1 in the NFL last year I believe.

He was top 10 in lots of statistical categories.

Calling his play anythjng but elite is silly.

What does a passer rating track? How is it calculated? I'm just curious how they come up with that number….

=(YDSATT−3)×0.25

=(TDATT)×20

=2.375−(INTATT×25)

where

ATT = Number of passing attemptsCMP = Number of completionsYDS = Passing yardsTD = Touchdown passesINT = InterceptionsIf the result of any calculation is greater than 2.375, it is set to 2.375. If the result is a negative number, it is set to zero.

Then, the above calculations are used to complete the passer rating:

Passer Rating=(+++6)×100

Unless it fits the narrative I'm trying to push, am I right?

Of course

But really it's fairly simple. A high QB rating typically indicates a good game by a QB. You will rarely find a game where someone had a high QB rating and they were bad(if ever)

But it's not a situation where higher QB rating = better performance. As with any stat in football there are a lot of factors in play.
