Brock was top 5 under Kyle.
Trey could be top 3.

I still think the issue with a qb like cousins is that if the defense has an off day or average day or the special teams does, it's a major uphill battle to still win with a guy like Kirk.

it's similar to jimmy, if the team doesn't play a clean game, it's a challenge to win. Shouldn't be that way with this roster.

im glad the Kirk cousins nonsense is coming from ridiculous corners of the internet and not anyone credible.

I know what you mean, but he is a little better than Jimmy. Jimmy was a play away a couple times, and I think our roster is better now and our path is easier than either of those seasons.

I'm not saying it's the right move, but I think Kyle is hell bent on getting it done after coming so close again. I Kirk was his prototype before seeing Mahomes and Allen play, i really wouldn't be shocked if he wants to make this trade

I would be shocked because of the salary cap constraints.

it may get us out of the NFC but I don't see it getting used last Mahommes/Burrow. I just don't think Kirk gives us an edge that we are missing. I think Purdy showed much more than cousins from a leadership and composure standpoint, not stats because Kirks been playing a long time.

i just don't see that move as making us a ton better. We are already favored to have the most wins in the league, per bettors.

if I was MIN, I'd take Trey Lance for Cousins. Lol no doubt. At least Trey is cost controlled and unknown - giving them optimism he could be better than cousins.

Man y'all have to stop posting from these b******t, no name accounts. Every single year around draft time these random accounts start flexing and every single year it turns out that they were wrong about 99.99999999% of what they reported.

Remember last year where NFL Schedule Leaks account popped up and started releasing schedule leaks before the official schedule was dropped? Dude got like 10K+ followers in a couple of days. Had retweets from several beat writers across the league.

Posted later laughing at everyone who followed him and believed him cuz he was just making sh*t up and people were gobbling it up. And that was before twitter blue crap.
Kirk cousins and darnold. Kill me now.

lol I don't mind Darnold as a backup but don't want Cousins. Cousins is a statue and Purdy is just better IMO.

Just based on their film and overall experience. I can watch all of Treys tape from college and NFL and there's nothing that tells me he's better than Darnold.

I also base it off the fact that Kyle and John are already undermining Trey and don't have a lot of excitement about him and his future here. I know you guys don't want to see it that way, but anyone that's not a Trey homer sees it. Imo you'd have to be pretty bad for a team that spent all that draft capital to be ready to move on without seeing much.

Kyle has seen the film and he thinks Sam can play. I know the "Darnold is here just to save our ass if something extremely rare happens again" narrative sounds amazing and makes sense for us, but it doesn't for Darnold. He wouldnt sign here to just sit around for us in case lightning strikes twice

Watch a lot of film do you?

That's the thing with experience...you can't get it until you get it. Trey has more experience on this team and in this offense than Darnold does.

It took Matt Ryan 2 years to master Shanahan's offense. Darnold is here on a 1 year deal. We're just going to assume he comes in and picks up the playbook without issue? Maybe...but right now we haven't seen a single snap from him.

Kyle Shanahan has seen Trey Lance's film and thought he could play. Seems like you like to forget that part.

Darnold signed here because Purdy is on the shelf for who knows how long and has 8 starts under his belt. Trey is still recovering himself and has 4 starts under his belt. It's not that deep. He saw a great team in place and a spot where he could come in and compete and try to land a starting spot.

What other team this good has a question at QB whether injury wise or lack of starting experience wise? Not like he signed a 4 year deal here.

Picks up the playbook with no issues, yup. This is a guy on HC what.. four? Five? Picking up new stuff is what he does basically every season.

the bold is 100% correct
I feel bad for Trey fans! Every day there is some new wild and crazy way to get rid of Trey.

It's offseason I don't read too much into that. He's a 49er until told otherwise.

You're right, he's shown a knack for picking up complex offenses and executing them at the highest levels numerous times. I'm so silly.

Kyle actually didn't like Treys film, he liked Trey the person and "hoped he'd see what he didn't see" in treys film. He went for the character and upside hoping it would work out, but the way things have played out it is not going to

Kyle would name him the starter if that were the case
lol it doesn't work that way... unless Trey gets injured Trey will be the starter (if Brock is not ready)

Yes it does. If Kyle truly believed Trey could be top 3 QB, he could have very easily said he's excited about what Brock did but he's also excited to get his starter back
Kyle never named the starter in 2021 until the end of camp.

What you want and what Kyle has been doing doesn't work. plain and simple

I like Brock a lot too, but he does still have to keep proving it and show his arms the same. You have to put yourself in Kyles shoes when thinking about this. He probably thinks we win a SB for sure with Cousins. In his mind he knows that. I love Brock as much as anyone, but he still isn't proven. Kyles already been burned by QB regression. It just wouldn't shock me at all if he wanted the "sure SB" with Cousins this year

Brock still has a lot to prove, no doubt. I just don't think it's a lock that we win anything with cousins. It would be his best situation but I just don't trust him when it matters most.

regardless, I don't even know how it would be possible if it was a real rumor. His cap hit is ridiculous. We still have a big cap hit for Trey, even if he is traded.

I just don't see it and don't want to see it. Hahaha
