The only person who knows what Kyle thinks about Trey is Kyle and maybe Lynch. We can all discuss what we think might happen but its all just guessing.

All educated guesses point to low confidence
What's so 'educated' about opinions? "Educated guesses" are nothing more than assumptions. All these debates and arguments over assumptions and opinions are laughable and sad too.

It's educated because all evidence points to that opinion being correct. We can't read minds, but we can read words and actions. You pretty much have to stick your head in the sand to believe they are confident in Trey
Dude, there is no 'evidence' and it's not 'educated'. It's hearsay and opinion all mixed together. It simply is a crutch used to argue with others. Nobody posting on here knows what the coaching staff is thinking with regard to the players.

Ok everyone in the football world but Trey fans are just making things up. There is evidence that points to them not being confident anymore. You can think they are confident I really don't care, I don't think they are confident in him at all
"everyone in the football world" LOL. It's you pal, not everyone in the football world. I'm beginning to think you're delusional bro. I mean, there's talk (not evidence) going on in both directions. But that talk is from outsiders, not the team.

Everyone talking about a Trey trade, it's delusional to think they believe the 49ers are confident in Trey

Trey has a golden opportunity to take over this offseason and show the world what he can really do, but you would never know it listening to Kyle and John. Ya they are so confident in him lmfao

I think if he plays extremely well, he has a shot to force himself into the convo. I also think he isn't going to get the same slack he has the last two years. Like if darnold is operating the offense at a much smoother level than Trey, he's in serious trouble.

Yea and that's something we could say about any QB on any team. Is it actually going to happen? I just think he's had to be really bad to be undermined the way he has by the guys that invested in him. He really does have a golden opportunity in front of him and they're over there talking about how it's a big challenge to get him on the field. That's bad, I can't twist it any other way

I'm with you on the idea of I think the team has been disappointed in his progress/development and look at this off season as "put up or shut up". That's why I think he's in a super short leash. Their efforts will be behind getting Purdy ready and back in there.

i don't look at this as an open qb competition.. Lance and darnold are fighting for QB2 and the chance to fill in for Purdy until he is back. Lance would have to play amazing, which is possible, but unlikely.. then he can force the hard decision from Kyle.

i don't see it happening. I'm just tryna remain optimistic hahah

Yeah you'd never know…unless you stopped ignoring comments like these…

"Trey brings a lot to the table. I think first of all, you talk [of] his makeup, of his character, who he is as a person. We really believed in that, and we're probably even stronger on that. He does bring kind of that dual capacity, where we felt like he could be a pocket passer, but also add another dimension as a runner."

"we like Trey on our team and we are very excited about the way he is progressing about his opportunity."

"I feel we're in a very good situation at quarterback where we drafted a guy we really wanted, and we don't feel any different about him now than we did three years ago when we took him. It's just unfortunate that he hasn't gotten to play. He was going to play last year and I think people were going to be very impressed with him, but he got hurt. That opened opportunities, and now we have another guy who can play very well, we have Sam Darnold who can play and I hope all three of these guys are with us, but we'll listen to anything."

You read all that but all you see is "we'll listen to anything"

If you actually take your blinders off and read carefully the only reason they're not screaming from the top of the roof about their love for Trey is cuz he hasn't played and got hurt and Brock played as well as he did.

You expect them to act like a 4 game starter should be worshiped in the media as proof the team isn't hoping to trade him?

Kyle Shanahan is incredibly calculated with his comments when he wants to be. They want Trey to come in and compete his ass off. They're not going to coddle him anymore. Not with the way Brock played but it doesn't mean they're done with him.

And you left out

"I think it's going to be harder for him to [win the starting QB job]," Shanahan said Wednesday at the league's annual meeting. "Brock played eight games. Trey had that job going into last season and if he would've played eight games like that, no one else would've been able to come in and beat him out. But with Brock being hurt, it does open him up. It does give him a chance.

"Trey is a great person but he's also smart and he knows what he saw. He knows the level that Brock played at so he understands that," Shanahan said. "I've talked to Trey the same way I'm talking to you guys now, so he gets it.

Yes, Kyle and John have said EVERYTHING. Whatever side of the argument you are on, you can find snippets from Kyle and John supporting your position. That's why the back and forth is a waste of time. Everyone can find something supporting their position, and everyone else can find something contradicting said position. Ludicrous.

Very true
Let's check back in 2 weeks.

I just lost hope for him on our team. No reason to root against him, but I have nothing to really be excited about either. He might stick through the draft and spot start for a few games next year, but outside of that I don't see him doing anything with us

Trey just needs to keep doing, what he's been doing and what for a break to happen.

They've said enough that the positive is just fluff to me. If they say it's a challenge for him to play that means he's done to me
