I think MM should be held accountable in that case, why would he write that all the guys are together if they aren't

It would be very dumb to give any indication to Niners fans that he's doing anything other than being locked into football for the first OTA's of the season. The story that boast posted is adding fuel to this rumor. Let's hope it's not true.

Anybody agree that they should have kept Jimmy G? Purdy may not even be available this year and nobody really knows what Trey will be. Windows for competing for championships can close rapidly and this team should be a favorite with a good QB.

Why should he care what Niner fans think about what he's doing in the off-season in April? It's not like his coaches or any of the actual decision makers on the team are going to look at his instagram and be like "well, I guess he's not all in on competing for the starting role" because he posted vacation photos on the first day of the off-season program (not even OTAs) especially since they would know if he was actually there or not. On the list of opinions he should care about right now, 49er fans are near the bottom of the list, because A. 99.9% of fans don't care what he posts on instagram and B. fans ultimately only care about winning games.

Not at that price. Had he had zero market for whatever reason, and we could have gave him a similar contract as last season, that would have probably been smart.

Personally I think Jimmy is an average starter in this league. Nothing special at all. However one thing I see a lot here that I disagree with is that he isn't good enough to win a Super Bowl. I think he is with this roster. Just because he failed to play well when he had the opportunity to win doesn't mean he couldn't have played better with another opportunity. All the big games we lost with him could have been different with a couple plays bouncing in the other direction.

Having said that, beyond his ability as a QB, the simple fact is he is unreliable in terms of durability. He is not a player you can count on to be healthy for long stretches.

No. We signed Sam Darnold for a reason. Notably, he's a lot cheaper than Jimmy and will serve as the Plan C.
