i hope the guy gets better and I'm sure he will, I'm just not sold on him being some superstar talent that some think. He's just physically awesome.

i always thought it was a terrible draft pick.

Yeah the famous camp reports.^^
You know who was seen as nothing more than a solid player at best by most of the 49ers beat writers in last training camp? Brock Purdy. Only Larry Krueger saw something in him and he was just saying he was really good and nothing more.
Jimmy had that 5 interceptions practice the year the team went to the Superbowl.
As far as Trey Lance, the reality is that nobody knows. He could be a bust or a superstar or just a solid QB.
You can´t judge someone on 3 games or Trevor Lawrence should be considerated a gigantic bust because he sucked last year.
If you´re the Niners, you keep Lance one more year and you see if he can improve.
Sometimes adversity gives you the answer. If Lance is a top talent, he will find a way. If not he will be another first round QB bust.

Because if he still sucks, there will be zero trade value

I don't think we will lose much value but we have a chance to gain substantial value.

But but but I thought Lance sucked? Why would teams be calling about him if they think he stinks? Hmmmmm MAYBE because he doesn't suck like ya'll think. Our fan base is one of the most impatient bunch of babies I've ever been around.

Who says he sucks? The concensus around the league, is that he's a talent, and just needs a new home.

I think he sucks. Lol I also think he's a game manager. Not elite. Only thing about him that's talented are his physical traits

i still don't know if trading him is the right move tho

He can't be everything.

All of those things can be true. He currently sucks, his ceiling is a game manager, but he could become better then suck that he currently is - which would be helpful if Purdy isn't healthy in time

Why do you keep saying he sucks? He. sucks at getting hurt. Plus, Darnold is ready to go if Dirty isn't ready yet.

Under whelmeing? He played in a blisered in Chicago, then got hurt.

It's as simple as this Mayo - Justin Fields (same draft) was able to beat our far far superior roster with worse coaching in the same weather.

trey had over 3 quarters before the rain started coming down hard. He managed 3 points. - coincidently that's what he has done in all three of his starts. 3 points until the third/4th quarter. You aren't winning Jack s**t in this league doing that unless you're playing the horrible Texans (4-13) and they can be shut out

idk what you saw in the Arizona, Texans, or Bears game that makes you think he is good. He would be the worst ranked QBs in the league at that rate. The bears went on to be the worst team in the league, btw.

What's the point of being big, fast, and have a strong arm if you can't beat a crap team in the rain? Stop making excuses for his poor play and just admit it was very poor play. When he wasn't the starter, we become a championship contender.

He bailed out on NDSU after 1 year. This may have been a fatal mistake unless it was just about getting paid.

Maybe it was always about just the money for Lance.
The system is flawed.
You dont give a 21 year old kid 35 Million and say go play.
You say go play and if you dont suck we will give you 35 Million.

- I don't see the team trading Lance unless they're confident in Purdys rehab.
- I don't see the real value in a first round pick this season
- salary cap benefits to a June first trade ($5.1M - which is oddly darnolds exact hit).

Even if a trade happens, I think it'll be a June first designation wirh high picks next year

Fwiw you don't have to trade him after June 1st to use the post June 1 Designation

i don't think money is the issue. Lance doesn't seem like that kind of kid.

So, Fields had a better day. Doesn't mean, if Trey didn't get hurt, that he wouldn't have been just as good.

Right, I knew that and should of added it in there. If we do trade him sooner and designate it a June 1 - we won't get any draft capital this year.

i still don't think he's traded at the draft unless it's a crazy offer

Just, my opinion. Just, an observation, of the situation.

Speaking for myself, it's not fan impatience, but the opinion that Kyle's actions imply that he does not want to play Lance, and is posturing himself so that he will not have to. Fans have only seen Lance in four starts, but Kyle has worked with him for two entire off seasons and seasons. Keeping him around and not playing him is counter productive.

Money is always the goal. Superbowl rings come second to getting paid for 99% of NFL players.

Right but it still means he was underwhelming and sucked. When you're on a championship caliber team littered with pro bowl and all pro, as well as top notch coaching, only way you lose to the worst team in the league is by sucking. And he royally sucked that game.

which his amazing physical traits are supposed to make rough weather mitigated.

Josh Rosen put 13 games of horrible film up and got moved for a 2nd. Sam put years of trash film up and got moved for a 2nd+ more.

If teams are tossing you day3 picks for him who cares…SF has a buttload of those low level picks already.
