Well there was smoke all around Deebo last off-season. Then AJ Brown got traded.

Perhaps best case, for the 49ers, is that Lance plays well enough in the first 3-6 2023 games to inspire hope, Brock comes back and resumes his pace. Lance has a good standing in the 2024 offseason and the 49ers trade him for a nice haul. Right now, Lance is worth more to the 49ers than what I think teams would be offering.

I believe we all know deep down in our hearts that Trey will be starting week 1. Purdy will be ready (shoulder wise) but not game shape ready. Trey will start and ball out. Purdy will be dealt before the trade deadline or next offseason and we will receive massive compensation for him. The Darnold talk will die down and be viewed as a silly conversation.

Atleast this is my favorite scenario. I also believe it will play out this way.

Cousins would be the starter. He's experienced, has played at a consistently high level, and he stays healthy. Three things no other QB on the roster can say.

If you're a gold miner and you stake a claim because you believe that you are on to something special. Then you accidently discover gold at another claim site, you don't just abandon the first site. It may well be worth more than the new site. After all you researched the first site and liked it very much. You still don't know how much gold is there and until you do you hold on to it. Same with TL. Until the team knows what they have they aren't going to get rid of him.

That would be the ideal scenario as Lance would have to be so much better than Purdy that he'd look like a potential franchise QB but that's not our luck.
