Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance Thread

Of course we're fielding calls. If someone calls we're going to pick up the phone.

Teams can see the situation, and want to know what it might cost, makes sense.

That's a fair distance away from trading him.

IMO nothing's even going to be seriously considered until we know for sure where Brock is at.

Just hope something happens this draft.
me thinks there is an outside chance they already have an agreement to trade him in June when the cap hit will be much less

Yeah he has for the most part but let's not act like he hasn't made some questionable picks. They all do over time. Nobody has a crystal ball. He had a plethora of cap and draft capital to rebuild when he took over for Trent Baalke and traded up for Reuben Foster then traded Buckner and drafted, forgot his name, to replace him in the middle. It's a little bit of luck half the time

You have no f**king clue if he's the real deal…I can show you a dozen or more throws that were awful. People thought Jimmy was the "real deal" how'd that work out?

Can you show me two years of bad play from Lance? Please show me…oh you can't because he hasn't played. That's massively different

Why does Brock praise offend you?

Saying Brock is rhe real deal is not outrageous.

It is outrageous to compare Brock's career numbers to other players career best 5 game stretch to try to equate the two.

It is outrageous to be this confident in either direction after such a small sample size, especially considering how badly we were just burned by the whole Jimmy fiasco.

Even during the amazing 5 game stretch by Jimmy in 2017, he wasn't even sniffing Purdy's jockstrap. And I am one of Jimmy's biggest supporters. Purdy is legit.

Jimmy was throwing to guys like Trent Taylor, Marquise Goodwin, and Garrett Celek. You can't really compare their situations, but what we can say is that Jimmy was never as good in the years that followed as he was during that 5 game stretch.

If you can't compare their situations, then why did you compare their situations?

He's made some great moves the last few years. He's had the midas touch, recently.

Probably not the first day and a half. Going to feel like a long wait those almost first 3 rounds.

Rick, he's got a gold jacket, a Stanford education, he's in the Pirate Ring of Honor probably next to Brady at this point. He gets offered $15m jobs from Amazon and turns em down cuz he has a Super Bowl to win. The man faced Jerry Rice in the Super Bowl, as a DB, and walked off the field that day a champion. Some ppl make their own luck Rick.

Sure, that could be the case, but a guy like Trey needs patience. I doubt they even know what he is until he can play in more games. You invest in the position to coach these guys up and grow them into their potential. I just don't see the need to trade him at this point.

They've had him in the building for a couple years now, they've watched him in training camp and practice, I imagine they have a good idea of what is capable of at this point. If they trade him away, that would speak volumes about what they feel his future outlook in the NFL is like.

There's no indication they are shopping him. Teams calling doesn't tell me that they have seen enough and are ready to move on. Frankly, Brock's historically good start means that they could like Trey and trade him anyway, should a team given them a big enough haul.

I don't see that happening, haul is not a word I would use here

You can't compare their situation on the field and what they were working with. You said that Jimmy wasn't sniffing Purdy's jock during his 5 game stretch, but that has nothing to do with anything. The incredibly small sample size is the only similarity between the two. We were burned once by going all-in on a QB after a small sample size. No sense in doing it again, especially when we don't have to. At least in the case with Jimmy we didn't really have a ton of options because his contract was expiring.

Totally agreed. I mean he can still salvage the Trey Lance debacle somewhat but not having those first round picks could hurt a little down the road. I'm personally happy that Micah Parsons and Penei Sewell are not 49ers. You guys are good enough as is lol
