If he does poorly in preseason/regular season 2023, I don't much difference between his trade value right now and his trade value after an uninspiring 2023.

If they were to trade him, that to me screams that they are afraid that if they actually had to play him, it would completely collapse his value, the difference between getting a 2nd or 3rd and change and getting a 5th or worse.

If they are sure that Lance getting playing time would sink his value, then I understand wanting to trade him before the 2023 season. But from what I've seen of Lance, he isn't some bumbling idiot out there. At no point did Lance look like Zack Wilson or Malik Willis - those guys were straight up deer in the headlights damn near every dropback. I think Lance's value is very low to GMs around the league and they may want to get him while it's low. If he plays a bit, I think he would increase his trade value. imo

Quit drinking 30 years ago after my youngest got molested by her step grandfather in Georgia. Long story. Kind of f**ked my marriage up a little. Life can really bite sometimes, but got to find a way to get through it. Just like to help people out, the homeless and handicapped always need a helping hand. Glad, I got this place to go to.

That's the only thing that really makes sense to me, that they believe that his value would only decrease if they keep him and play him so they would be trying to salvage whatever they can while the league still thinks he has franchise QB potential.

Otherwise it makes all the sense to keep him because as you said, his value is already really low right now and if there's even a slight chance that he can be a franchise quarterback, then they should keep him, especially considering how much they've invested already and that his salary isn't exactly exorbitant either.

Yeah I don't think anyone thinks, or believes, he should be just given away. If Lance gets traded, we will get at least a first - you know we will demand it

if anyone wants to get rid of Lance for mid round draft picks, well that's their problem.
i predict either Houston or Hotlanta trades for him, or def tries.

I would have bet money on Tenn a week ago. I'm thinking it ends up being the Vikings. They'll dump Cook (probably to MIA) use part of that compensation for Trey.

Personally, I'd like to see Houston for him. They'll give him the time to develop and get the experience he needs without expecting to win.

if the rumor that HOU is not selecting a QB in the 1st rd of the draft is true, it makes sense for them to take a flyer on Trey for the 2023 season. he already knows Bobby Slowik's offense . it also puts him out of the conference.

Too, much coffee and meds, a bad combination. Plus, got the Warriors on the brain. Been rambling all morning. Time to get back to talking Football. This is really the wrong thread for this discussion.

A source confirmed NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport's report that, yes, unspecified teams have called about Lance's availability and, no, the 49ers are not seeking to trade him.

publicly. they said it multiple times publicly. Kyle and John have not done that for Trey.

That's because Deebo was PUBLICILY trying to force a trade.

Why would Kyle and John give credence to a BS report when they could just talk to their players about where they stand behind closed doors?

If Kyle came out and said we're not trading him, would that actually make anyone believe it? Obviously not. Would the forum stop speculating he could be traded? NO.

I don't understand why you and many other posters are spreading a bunch of rumors that Trey's not at working camp and that the team doesn't defend him... its all lazy nonsense.

Eh, we should have probably Just drafted an entirely different position all together If we're being honest.

Giving up 3 first round picks for a raw project was always gonna be a huge gamble.

I like Fields, but he has inferior passing talent. Hell, of a runner, though.

Let's see what he looks like throwing to DJ Moore, Claypool and Mooney, with Kmet

He'll still struggle passing the ball, got to be born with it. Just ask, Trey.
