Preseason won't change too much of it. Every bad play will be because Trey sucks and every good play will be because of everyone else. Rinse and repeat.

I don't think Kyle risks playing Trey in preseason. We need all the QB's we can keep healthy.
And Kyle doesn't like preseason games.

Trey better be playing in the preseason. He needs to play all the full contact tackle football he possibly can.

I agree and I think Trey is going to get a lot of playing time whether they think Brock will be ready by week one or not.

They not only need to see how much he's progressed and how he can improve one game to the next, they also need to confirm who's going to be the guy if Brock isn't healthy enough by then.

Granted, you could argue most of that will show in practice. Preseason won't always tell the whole story.

Are you really going to pretend with a straight face that this doesn't affect how teams play the 49ers? Especially in light of the FACT OF REALITY that the 49ers gain more yards per carry with Trey under center.

Was that 3rd and 13? Showing these clips with no context doesn't always tell the full story.

third and long, they don't play him the same because they don't think he will run that far to convert.

im not arguing that he doesn't add an element to the run game. Lol just saying that the run you posted doesn't mean much, nor explain why the defense played him like that.

update: funny thing is, I looked up the play and it was 3 & 13. Lmao he converted it though.

The context is that the team runs for 4.11 yards per carry when he's not under center and 5.4 when he is. It is utterly laughable to pretend he has no effect on the run game.

That make you feel better? Teams game plan for this when they play him.

It makes me feel better that I'm not watching highlights of someone running for a bunch of yards in prevent coverage. Getting a bunch of yards is easy when things are out of reach.

it's like when a qb throws for 2 touchdowns at the end of the game when it's way out of reach. Then you said "he threw touchdowns? Does it matter how he got them?" Well yes, it does. I want someone who performs when the game isn't gone. It's two different worlds and comparisons. Can someone throw touchdowns when the defense is still locked in and not playing prevent?

^this isn't directed at Trey. I was just curious if that was. 1st and 10 run or 3 & 13. Defenses cover them much different when it comes to qb spies. The good news is that it was 3 & 13 and Lance want for it. That's impressive

Stats are only relevant in comparison to the context. You can out 200 yards and only score 6 points - that's a problem. You can put up 45 yards and score 14. So when I see yard stats thrown around, they're worthless without context of the situation and the points.

idgaf how many yards the offense puts up with any qb unless we score. My hope is that Lance improves in the redzone. That's where he needs to make a big jump to compete for the job

the biggest issue with Lance as qb in his three starts is that we averaged 14 ppg. Some like to brag about the yards in the seattle game, fact is he only put 3 points with 140 yards or something. That's not good. That's a problem to me. On pace for 400 yards with 9-12 points? It's a joke to me. I want to see the man score when he's the starter

As for why the offense has not done well with Lance, I'd say it's pretty obvious because he's been trash at throwing the ball. Dude's on target percentage is abysmal. But, the run game definitely does a little better. Too bad for him it's not 1985.

Let's hope his corrections to his mechanics/throwing motion improve all that.

im hoping that Shanahan/teams talent can have a major impact on darnold (think Daboll/Jones last year) so that it's a really good qb room.

I don't care how much he helps our run game honestly. I just want to move the football and score points. Guys like Tyrod were great for the run game I guess, but I would never want him has my franchise guy

225 yd pass and 175 rush with a top 5 defense gets you to the NFCCG with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Sign me up!

Fair enough regarding the ad hominem. I won't do it anymore. But, I maintain that defenders taking false steps or waiting until after the mesh action to react is not a matter of opinion.

You are correct though.

Absolutely correct.

Rings is obliterating Charlie in this argument, if you can even call it that.

Any Trey homer will think that Truth is I proved it with film that Deebo was breaking off huge runs and Trey had nothing to do with it. Watch the Deebo highlights up until Trey gets injured. All long runs from Deebo that had nothing to do with Trey

Am not nor have I ever been a "Trey homer."

Nice try though.
if TL doesn't get cut looks like he will have a chance to suit up this year as the #3

lol doesn't get cut.. come on man

this is more reason why that trade talk was a lil silly, we knew what was coming as an org, that three QBs would dress, we pushed for this change, and now we are ready for it

I think that's what they call "projection."

It is the mental process by which people attribute to others what is in their own minds. In projection, what is internal is seen as external.

The trade talk was real. Rapooirt even said they pushed back on him giving his opinion on who would start between Trey and Sam. Never mentioned pushback about the "we are taking calls" tweet he made (because it came directly from us)

I'm not sure how it makes me feel good about myself that you guys are Trey homers, but alright lol

Anybody that goes to bat for Trey and defends him like he's Joe Montana, is a Trey homer. This kid just learned how to throw a football a few weeks ago, we should all just be in wait and see mode right now. Getting drafted high isn't enough to make me attached to him, he has to actually do something (and to me he never has looked good, not even his college tape)

Yeah, we take calls on 100% of our guys. Everyone not named Nick. So it's a non issue. I don't think we made a single call. We just answer the phone if it rings.

Don't need to score huh? Lance needs to step up his ability to score touchdowns as the starter before we can even talk winning the division. His 14 PPG in his three starts are the issue. Idk why everyone is so mesmerized with yards, they're 1000% irrelevant if you aren't scoring or you're kicking field goals. Lol

im hoping his improved throwing motion & mechanics makes this happen.
