I'll drop this here.

Per PFF, Mahomes had 70 attempts of 20+ yards on 748 total attempts last year (9.4%).
Brock Purdy had 27 attempts of 20+ yards on 233 total attempts last year (11.6%)
Both had 4 touchdowns on throws of 20+ yards in 2022. https://t.co/Vd7l6R8xDM
That's awesome! Hell yeah! I knew he was attacking more often than we've seen in a long long time, but it's cool to see the stats behind it.
he may be limited in arm strength but I mean come on, every quarterback can throw 40 to 50 yards down field and Brock certainly took way more chances than Jimmy Garoppolo ever did WITH SUCCESS
you don't need to be able to throw it 70+ yards, it's cool and all but isn't important. Those are low percentage throws anyway. As long as you can hit those in the 30-45 yard range easily - that's more than enough.
i think having a cannon is way over blown. Lol it's just sexy. Tom Brady didn't have one and his arm actually got stronger with working at it, which is what Purdy has done
There is a difference between guys with huge arms who can do insane things while playing with sloppy mechanics and guys who can throw the ball well but need to have proper mechanics to do it.
However arm strength is definitely very important, it's just not everything. There are certain throws where a strong arm means the difference between a completion or incompletion or interception. Strong arm also doesn't always imply deep ball. Fitting a quick throw between defenders or locating the ball in a tough spot on the field. Those things Brady could do.
I actually think Manning is the better example. I think out of the two of them Brady had the stronger arm. But nobody ever called Manning a dink/dunk guy because he attacked teams with all his weapons.
