very interesting conversation regarding Trey Lance/QB situations and different perspectives. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the points thrown around, but thought it would be fun to hear peoples thoughts. The guy krueg is talking to throws a lot of the blame on Kyle, regarding treys situation. Which I think he makes some fair points. I think anyone rational can say that not everything is treys fault, at all. Specifically the injuries. I thought the plan for Trey (sit for a year and start after that) was a good plan. I think the execution was a little weird. They never really made a solid commitment about him publically until after the 2021 season, which is just kind of odd because of what we spent on Trey and where we took him. Idk. I think this will be a never endearing discussion until we finally know what Kyle/John have been thinking this whole time.

i personally don't fault them for running with Purdy at this point and giving him a shot. I just find how they handled everything super odd, including competing with darnold for QB2. Very strange situation but hopefully it works itself out.

1) More lucky (w/the last pick of the draft performing well @ the most important position) than odd. Only nitpicking IMO makes things "odd."

We spent a late 3rd on a kicker and he's having to compete too. A general rule to the makeup of a football roster -- especially for little-proven players, is to remove the names from the back of the jerseys and have them compete.

Once u begin handing out jobs all the time and you change the entire vibe and psyche of the team. So yea, let them compete.

2) I mean on the blame stuff,...hindsight's always 20/20. Kyle's body of work regarding the entire roster is what's impressive. Don't wanna tit for tat on who's fault what is for unproven guys,...at least until a contract is up or a player's off the team.

I mean if we're going to do that on a player-by-player basis, no coach in the league will ever look good.

I think it'd be more meaningful/productive to look at entire body of work Kyle's put out there as a HC,...then compare to other coaches over the same time span. I think when you do that, you care alot less about laying blame on him and leave it up to the players to perform.

Correct. Would have been much wiser to use those picks on an experienced QB.

We know we have to beat Mahomes to win a Super Bowl. When we spend 3 firsts on a QB we expect to develop him and for him to be the franchise the next 10 to 15 years and have the first round pedigree and the talent to beat Mahomes. No excuses can be made to spend this much on a player and then cavalierly dismiss him because you have a 7th round limited yet experienced QB you THINK you may have a CHANCE to beat Mahomes with.

The only way this thing works for me is if Brock gets the job and wins it ALL. That happens then I don't care what we spent on Trey because the Super Bowl will fix all. What I do not want is another Jimmy G redux after what we spent on Trey. Facing Mahomes will not cut it for me. We have to BEAT HIM!!

Yea if we were not gonna develop Trey as PHI did Hurts then we should have went hard in the paint for Rodgers or somebody that we knew we would not have to guess or wonder about at QB the next 3 seasons. I would have been fine with Rodgers for 3 firsts because I knew I could get 3 years of contention outta him until my firsts replenished themselves

I don't think Hurts is > Lance cuz of club development. We have as good a club as there is and we see QB development in Brock.

TL can improve, but he will likely have to do so from behind the scenes if BP is back. Rodgers was a no go, he wasn't coming to SF under much of any circumstance.

Your "Home Page" website, whatever it is, is incorrect. Look, I'll make a diagram for you from Pro Football Reference:

Edited to come across as less exasperated because that can be interpreted as hostility.

I know at the end of these battles we like say label each other "respectable" and sing kumbaya,...but what's really respectable about trying to lie about stats?

Should it really take all this?

Well I think in this case there was a genuine misunderstanding, and I feel assuming the best is better.

Pretty sure we offered the result of those firsts for Rodgers and the Packers declined.

TL on IG... not exactly inspiring confidence with this LOL I suspect he feels the continued growing uncertainty over his future tenure with the 9ers...

still time to get $20 on Offer Up for your Trey Lance jersey before the trade happens when we send him to Minnie for Danielle Hunter

"If Trey is not one of your top two… Allen would be more of a guy you would develop and have as your third quaterback." -Greg Pappa

So it begins... why keep Lance if he can't beat out Darnold for QB2.. but I already mentioned this over a week ago Loi

This is where I am at with all of this. I don't want another system QB with a limited ceiling that is only good enough to make the playoffs and not win it all. To me, Brock still has a lot to prove, and I think it is fair to question if he is truly the right QB for the next 10 to 15 years.
How old is this river guy

At this point I think TL should walk from the 9ers and strike a lucrative deal with the XFL where he could possibly dominate and be the face of the league for several years… Warren Moon couldn't make an NFL team coming out of UDub in the late 1970s, so he went to Canada and dominated there for 5 years before he became an NFL legend and the original "Dual Threat QB"… Warren Moon is one of my all time favorite QBs, anyway… TL could put a few good seasons to develop in the XFL, strike a lucrative deal and make bank, and prove himself there to possibly salvage a future career in the NFL…

I don't think the issue was Warren Moon couldn't make a team.

As for Trey, this is absurd. Even if he isn't what we need yet, nothing has happened that screams not an NFL talent.

You do realize the guy we invested three 1st picks in is the one who hasn't proven s**t and falls so far right into the bust category.
