I would disagree. Mac has a below average arm and little escapbility. He also is extremely dependent on everything going right to succeed offensively. If I recall Pats in 2021 were the worst team in the league at picking up firsts after a negative play on 1st down.

I can't philosophically get behind guys who need the supporting cast to carry them because of their limitations. Should've just traded the first in 21 for Kirk Cousins in that case.

To be clear, I'm not drafting any of the three in hindsight. I'm just not making the move period. Can't force it. We could have potentially jumped up two spots and had our choice of the three anyway. It's not certain but it's plausible.

We struggle with value drafting. I think I saw you point that out yesterday. Another thing I agree with completely and this is the best example of it.

I agree with this. I wonder who's actually at fault for this though.

I've always assumed the early picks were on JL and KS and the later rounds where we find gems were mainly Adam Peters/area scouts picks.

They absolutely struggle with value drafting. It's their biggest drafting flaw. Let it come to you.

I'm not in favor of trading that much for anyone. But if Purdy hits I accept that it was a miss and move on. Draft picks are still lottery selections at end of day.

Could've had Bobby Taylor, Curtis Martin, and Rob Johnson (flipped for 1 and 4 to Bills) plus Ray Lewis in 95/96 and still added TO instead of the JJ trade. Hindsight will make you crazy.

I think our GM position is essentially a collaboration and this is an organizational shortcoming. We've seen this issue through our two successful runs (Harbaugh and Shanahan).

I think this group has done a great job with the roster overall, so we should be happy. Just don't forget how hard it was for us to find a GM the last hiring round and that's because of the structure at the top of the team.
. Double post.

Just learn, adjust, and move on is all that can be expected.

Wasn't Shefter the dude who was all butt hurt cause he said the trade was for Mac Jones.

What do we think happened here? I keep hearing they flew up, then did their homework on the prospects. Which is backwards. I wonder how it went down.

Why wouldn't they do it all over again? I mean it had no impact on the team, still went to two NFCCG

Of course I never said that

Was it "Franchise altering"?

First of all, I never said you did.

second of all, I was responding facetiously to this statement "The move had no effect as we're still wining with a top 5 team," and subsequent responses in support of that line of thinking. Hence the ( )

You have to study his background and how he got or "earned" his job and compare it to others in media and a lot will be explained

I don't remember him getting butt hurt, but maybe I missed something. Didn't Matt Maiocco think the same? He's pretty well connected. Sims thought the same. Sims does come across as butt hurt though. IMO because him and Kyle are buddies and made him look dumb.

I'm interested in this as well.

I know he's had some questionable reporting, like announcing Toms retirement before he did. Or maybe it was someone else?

We didn't make it to those title games because we spent three ones on near zero production. We made it in spite of that fact. First round picks can be used to add production or upgrade the roster. Any additional production, in 2 years when we were in the final four squads, may have resulted in a SB appearance, or a SB win, or multiple SB wins.

Made it because the roster is so good they felt the could take a chance.

If the pick is Alex Leatherwood we could have had zero production too. That is the risk of draft picks.

Unless one of those picks is another QB there is zero chance 22 is a SB win. Arent beating the Eagles just because we have Micah Parsons when our QB is Josh Johnson.

That's because he wasn't. This is just an example of a garden variety ad hominem argument in the direction of a guy offering unfavorable reports and sometimes opinions based on his reporting.

Maybe it was Simms who I was thinking about. I know Shefter has deep connections to the Shanahans writing his dads book and all. I just know some dudes who thought they knew who we traded up for got served crow and and did not enjoy it.
