Hard to really know how hurt Trey was so can't really say how effective he could've been. I just don't think Jimmy played at a level he couldn't have approximated.

Had we had Purdy in 2021 the 9ers win the SuperBowl.

Been saying this for a couple years now.

I like how in your posts he's on the JG level in 2021, yet in reality he's not separating from newly acquired Sam Darnold in year 3

bit of a disconnect

Everyone is guessing about Darnold vs. Lance. No one knows anything for sure other than our coaches. So yeah, the disconnect for me is not believing random national reporters who dont know their ass from their elbow in terms of what is actually going on with our team.

My point was you don't believe our own ballcoach, who set the chart in 2021. As to 2023, sure it's speculation who may emerge as the guy, between Sam and TL, on the depth chart. However, there is no speculation, that there is a comp along those lines. To say he's ahead of our FQB or on that level, as a rook, and now knee deep in a comp with Sam, it's an inconsistency in your logic imo. That is the disconnect. If he was on the JG level in 2021, he should be light years beyond Sam now

He could've been based on the one game sample. We just don't know either way and never will.

KS got a good look at both, all summer, and started JG. That tells me something. KS went out and landed Sam day one of FA, that tells me something as well. Let's focus less on the hypothetical, coulda woulda shoulda, and more on what we know.

I wish KS would have got a good look at Mahomes when we could have drafted him. KS is not a good QB talent evaluator.

also, doesn't matter who starts. We will need all QB's on the roster cause KS doesn't protect his QB's, injured every year.

I think you may be right. Griese I think saved our tails, he was a good hire to address the fact that KS doesn't really see the game thru a QBs eyes imo. Griese played a role in us selecting Brock, and his development as a rookie. If I understand correct, JL was actually on the Pat Mahomes train, but KS has more pull, particularly on the offensive guys. Their selection of TL may have been an admission of we missed out on Mahomes, we paid the price, and now if you really squint, maybe this guy Lance has some Mahomes traits, and we can develop him abilities into that kind of game changer. So the mistakes of whiffing on Mahomes, may have compounded, by a desperate and costly attempted, to 'correct' that mistake in the 2021 draft.
Trey Lance to Danny Gray running the slot fade is going to be lethal especially with Deebo and Aiyuk on the outside, Kittle running up the middle and CMC coming out of the backfield.

The answer to the question! 😂

I dont know where to start with this post dude.

Our own ballcoach admitted he thought about a QB switch in 2021, especially if we lost another game early on. So this has nothing to do with me believing or not believing our coach. I was talking about the national media.

And we didnt even have a FQB in 2021, so I am not sure why you keep saying that. I also have repeated myself MANY times that I didnt believe that Trey was as good as Jimmy at the start of the season....but with a season or at least most of a season of him starting, I expected him to be as good come playoff time. I know you have read me say that before too, so please dont try to act like I have been saying that Trey was on JG's level right away. I have never once said that, and have been consistent in my posting about the topic.

We did have a FQB, in the sense we had a guy who was on the contract of an FQB, the 2018 deal. You don't pay that kind of money, to sit that guy down, typically.

You literally bolded a post on the last page, that said TL could have approximated JG, in TLs rook year, and you replied by saying you've been saying that for years. Now you clarify, that TL wouldn't have approximated in your opinion, until around playoff time, which is a totally different point of view, in my mind..

reality ?

you have no idea what is going on at 49er HQ

I'm just down the road from HQ I have some idea mr att don't mock me
What did fowler, breer and schefter all say in like the past week?
do we deny a comp here? and the comp is TL and Darnold. they all say, advantage Darnold, right?
C.mon 4f6.. you still haven't learned all your lesson.. I have never steered you in the wrong path

and i'm probably closer to the stadium than you

you need to stop believing everything you read on the net.. even from guys who are not even close to the 49ers
So first the Niners are completely done with Trey more or less according to Albert Breer (who's almost never been right about anything) and now they've never been higher on him per Maiocco. Great, of course it's extreme opposites of the spectrum. So basically it's all b******t lol.

Welcome to the middle of the true offseason where the only real news is when a player is arrested.

That's why you have to go on what you know. Does it make sense that they are sold on TL and Sam is also a 49er? Even if you are sold on TLs ability, are you sold on his reliability? His durability?

this will make some posters unstable

The niners have never been higher on Lance

Purdy is the clear cut starter

Trey is on equal footing with darnold.

Thanks mm

I didnt specifically say it in the last post you are talking about, but I have posted probably 40 times in the past about him taking over and being what Jimmy was by the end of the season. That has always been my opinion, even if I didnt explicitly write it that time. There is no different point of view. You have responded to my post about by seasons end before too, so again, stop acting like you caught me in a gotcha moment contradicting myself.

When in doubt trust the local guys with the better sources.

I think MM has the team in his ear, and according to the 'team sources' they've never been higher on all their active guys. You can probably find stuff saying they have never been higher on Trey Sermon, right up until they cut him, now you hear the Philly press saying they've never been higher on Sermon..

this is an actual headline right now: Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Keeps Bringing Up RB Trey Sermon: 'Really Excited!'
