Our own ballcoach admitted he thought about a QB switch in 2021, especially if we lost another game early on. So this has nothing to do with me believing or not believing our coach. I was talking about the national media.

And we didnt even have a FQB in 2021, so I am not sure why you keep saying that. I also have repeated myself MANY times that I didnt believe that Trey was as good as Jimmy at the start of the season....but with a season or at least most of a season of him starting, I expected him to be as good come playoff time. I know you have read me say that before too, so please dont try to act like I have been saying that Trey was on JG's level right away. I have never once said that, and have been consistent in my posting about the topic.

It made perfect sense for Kyle to consider making a switch in 2021 if we would have lost an additional game or two in the first half. The season would have been lost at that point. Perfect opportunity to get the developmental player in and get him experience. Really has nothing to do with either JG or TL's ability in comparison to each other.

That's why you have to go on what you know. Does it make sense that they are sold on TL and Sam is also a 49er? Even if you are sold on TLs ability, are you sold on his reliability? His durability?

LMAO "have to go on what you know" followed by 3 questions that you don't.

Purdy is the clear cut starter

Trey is on equal footing with darnold.

Thanks mm

I think MM has the team in his ear, and according to the 'team sources' they've never been higher on all their active guys. You can probably find stuff saying they have never been higher on Trey Sermon, right up until they cut him, now you hear the Philly press saying they've never been higher on Sermon..

this is an actual headline right now: Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Keeps Bringing Up RB Trey Sermon: 'Really Excited!'

Just cuz they say that stuff doesn't mean they're lying.

Also QBs aren't RBs...RB evaluation is MUCH clearer.

What some have been saying on here. It was disappointing to see him get stonewalled twice against the Texans, and at the goal line vs the cards, tying to hit the edge.

Why can't both be true? The reports last year during camp was how low everyone was on Trey. You can hear/read it with player comments. So Trey putting in the proper work this offseason could make them higher on him than before (but that bar was potentially very low)

Despite being higher on him than the past, it's possible they may not feel he will ever run the offense as good as Brock and know they rather hitch the wagon to Brock than pick up Trey's 5th year option. Which in turn means they theoretically are completely done with Trey.

So there is a path where both CAN be true.

Are we sold on Purdy's durability? Darnold's durability or reliability?

This team ended up on essentially QB5 last season and watched their season end because they didn't have a QB to throw the ball. And we're questioning why Darnold is here?

I don't care how much of a fan you was of Trey pre-draft. If we're all being honest we all would agree Trey isn't the athlete we thought we were getting.

During the 2021 predraft process when we were all excited about who the 49ers would select, and I was playing armchair scout watching college tape, whenever Lance took off to run, I'd skip past that play. It was cringy watching him truck defenders and I knew whoever he juked would not get an NFL camp invite.

Can you post one of these player comments? Please and thanks.

Agreed. That was my big concern with him - the jump to the NFL. Granted I was more concerned about the passing part and he actually answered that for me better than the running part of the game.

To me his issues in the run are more hesitancy and overthinking. His QB scrambles look much more decisive and fluid. I think once he puts it together his running will be a nice asset. You're not getting Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields stuff but you don't need that to make an impact as a runner.

Sucks there was no combine the year he was drafted. It Would've been nice to have seen him do the 40 yd dash, shuttle, broad jump etc . To have a better idea of his athleticism heading into the draft. I know Justin fields did a 40yd at his pro day and had some good splits, which matches the tape. Sucks Lance opted out of his.

He seems to be a better scrambler than a runner, if that makes sense. And that's okay as long as he keeps his eyes downfield before making the final determination to tuck and scramble. One of the biggest challenges for RBs when going college to NFL is how quickly a running lane closes - once you see it, it's not there anymore. I'm guessing Lance is struggling with the same type of thing as a runner which we interpret as him being hesitant.

No fan of his football analysis but he's more linked to the 9er insiders than any national reporter. So what they say carries little weight.

I personally think it's a worse look for the front office if they traded all that and didn't even have a specific guy they were targeting. Lol "we will trade up (largest trade in franchise history and potentially mortgage our future) and figure out which one we like best".

i certainly hope that the story is that we either 1) liked Mac and changed our mind to Lance or

2) liked Lance the whole time and just played coy.

i just can't imagine being like "we are making the largest trade in franchise history to 3rd overall, where 2/5 of the QBs will be gone. Then we will decide which one we like from the leftovers". Lmao just nuts to me.

Interesting. I wonder which play he was measured on that. Cause once he gets going, he def is fast. I'm guessing 4.5 speed or so. I just don't think he's very quick or agile, at least not on designed runs. He seemed to do better scrambling when it wasn't a designed run.
