Jimmy can keep him on the bench by winning. simple as that. If Jimmy goes out and puts up W's then Lance sits. the minute Jimmy starts tossing picks and it costs us (even if it doesnt) Lance will be in there. the only problem with Lance is he's a rookie and this team is built to win a superbowl this year. do they want to gamble on a rookie if Jimmy is healthy? hes been a beast when healthy
KC had a playoff team with Alex Smith and an offensive genius Reid as well with Mahomes on the bench. We have a better offensive coach and a better team than KC did so following their blueprint in not stupid in any way whatsoever.
No it didn't, but did it hurt the Chiefs?
MVP QB
SB Champ
SB MVP QB
Best Record and Back to back SB appearances
i will take that hurt 10 out 10 times

its about doing whats best for the team and which option will give us the most wins Its a fact that Trey has thrown less than 320 passes and played in a weak conference in college and in that confrence its not exactly like he broke any passing records either and now youre asking him to start in the nfl. I think he is physically and mentally ready for the nfl but not its about getting him up to speed

Thats what i saw predraft as well his accuracy and ball placement was an issue. But of course that tape was 2 years ago and it looks like he spent his "year off" improving his mechanics
I honestly think with his skillset his work ethic and intelligence with this coaching staff and the talent around him he will work out great. I just have a hard time believing a player who did not dominate a weaker division who threw less than 320 college passes and hasnt really played a college game in a whole year will come in and be ready to play against NFL talent
This is my opinion pre TC and preseason though i may be proven wrong

It could well have been a 3 peat.
Anyway it's not important, let's just do the right thing with Trey. The path has been set, let's walk it.

Weak compared to Alabama, Clemson and a couple dozen other premier FBS programs.
Strong enough to beat Iowa with CJ Beatherd, George Kittle and Desmond King though. (Prior to Lance).
Kittle did have 110 yards on 5 catches in that game though.
I think Lance has a lot of upside, but honestly he needs to be eased into the fray.
He ran great at NDSU, but passing did have some issues. Mostly sailing balls and overthrows.
I would start Jimmy and give Lance a few possessions each game when possible/practical until he looks comfortable and performs.
I think he works out for the Niners, but its truly a crapshoot IMO.

The "sit Trey until Jimmy dies of old age" crowd like to imagine that if the Chiefs had had the audacity to play Mahomes his rookie season that they would have imploded and Mahomes would be out of the league by now.

Based on this thread so far, you'd think we just watched Trey toss 6 TDs and throw for 400 yds in his first pre-season game. Even then, I'd caution you that it's just pre-season and it doesn't mean anything.
But so far all this hype is coming from some cell phone video of the guy throwing against air. This is how disappointment starts. This is how people start calling player's busts and calling for coaches to be fired. Trey just played one real game in two years and looked VERY MEDIOCRE in that one he did play.
Calm down, guys.

Based on this thread you'd think Jimmy was some elite QB that couldn't possibly get beat out by a rookie…and the ideal way to make a player get better is for him to sit the bench
yeah if you did your research on that game you'd have a better idea of what was going on…last I saw he actually won that game. I was told winning is all that matters 🤔
