exactly

KC had a playoff team with Alex Smith and an offensive genius Reid as well with Mahomes on the bench. We have a better offensive coach and a better team than KC did so following their blueprint in not stupid in any way whatsoever.
playing backup didn't hurt Mahomes at all

No it didn't, but did it hurt the Chiefs?
Hurt the Chiefs?

MVP QB
SB Champ
SB MVP QB
Best Record and Back to back SB appearances

i will take that hurt 10 out 10 times

It could well have been a 3 peat.

Anyway it's not important, let's just do the right thing with Trey. The path has been set, let's walk it.

it's a QB drill which is for his mechanics, that's the point of that clip. Maybe he's ran other drills where there's coverages. But that drill is not for that.

its about doing whats best for the team and which option will give us the most wins Its a fact that Trey has thrown less than 320 passes and played in a weak conference in college and in that confrence its not exactly like he broke any passing records either and now youre asking him to start in the nfl. I think he is physically and mentally ready for the nfl but not its about getting him up to speed

Imo this is so ass backwards…let's complain about how many snaps he's taken and then not let him play so he CAN get passing attempts….I appreciate you acknowledging that actually playing makes a player better.

who gives a s**t about passing records, he was the league MVP and won a national title as a 19 yr old. People pretending that Jimmy is some Brett Favre QB is wild…this would be like if the Rams drafted Lance and kept Goff. You honestly think they let Goff play the full yr? No f**king way.

I honestly think with his skillset his work ethic and intelligence with this coaching staff and the talent around him he will work out great. I just have a hard time believing a player who did not dominate a weaker division who threw less than 320 college passes and hasnt really played a college game in a whole year will come in and be ready to play against NFL talent

This is my opinion pre TC and preseason though i may be proven wrong

He actually did dominate….

2020 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game MVP Walter Payton Award (2019) Jerry Rice Award (2019) MVFC Offensive Player of the Year (2019) First-team All-MVFC (2019)

You get better by playing, not by being the backup.

The "sit Trey until Jimmy dies of old age" crowd like to imagine that if the Chiefs had had the audacity to play Mahomes his rookie season that they would have imploded and Mahomes would be out of the league by now.

Strong enough to beat Iowa with CJ Beatherd, George Kittle and Desmond King though. (Prior to Lance).
Kittle did have 110 yards on 5 catches in that game though.

I think Lance has a lot of upside, but honestly he needs to be eased into the fray.
He ran great at NDSU, but passing did have some issues. Mostly sailing balls and overthrows.
I would start Jimmy and give Lance a few possessions each game when possible/practical until he looks comfortable and performs.
I think he works out for the Niners, but its truly a crapshoot IMO.

Whoa whoa whoa. He's still the ONLY Freshman to win the Walter Payton (FCS MVP award) in history.

Right? If sitting lead to more success every single QB drafted would be sitting year one.

Only way Trey isn't starting at some point this yr is if Jimmy is playing like the league MVP (doubtful) or his mechanics/understanding of the playbook aren't up to par…which from everything we're hearing/seeing isn't the case either.

Let's stop pretending like Jimmy is some elite QB, he's an okay starter, dude is gonna be gone in a year tops….honestly I don't see this massive downgrade between Jimmy and rookie Lance.

what Lance was asked to do in NDSU is gonna be damn near the same Kyle will ask of him in yr1 (maybe not running so much). Tons of play-action, boots/rollouts, half reads, slants, RPOs, get the ball in play-makers hands on 1st reads, and handing the ball off like 500x.

But how could he possibly improve his mechanics or any part of this game whatsoever if he doesn't play so I've heard. I am sure we will see Trey soon enough this season but I want him to come in the hot

Based on this thread so far, you'd think we just watched Trey toss 6 TDs and throw for 400 yds in his first pre-season game. Even then, I'd caution you that it's just pre-season and it doesn't mean anything.

But so far all this hype is coming from some cell phone video of the guy throwing against air. This is how disappointment starts. This is how people start calling player's busts and calling for coaches to be fired. Trey just played one real game in two years and looked VERY MEDIOCRE in that one he did play.

Calm down, guys.

Unleash him - he's ready to dominate.

yeah if you did your research on that game you'd have a better idea of what was going on…last I saw he actually won that game. I was told winning is all that matters 🤔

Tell that to our Head Coach. He doesn't speak without talking about 11v11 football.

The excitement comes from our rookie not only displaying exceptional physical traits, but that he's handled everything that's been thrown at him from a mental standpoint as well.

His college performance just doesn't matter, all that is doing is setting your CV, now you've got the job, what are you going to do?

He's in a perfect position, and I'm certain he'll win the starting job.

Where is this jimmy is elite talk?

winning is what matters, but you want to throw in a guy who hasn't even played the in the NFL.. extreme takes there
