Best case scenario: A team with a coach on the hot-seat loses a starting QB in the preseason and they trade a 2nd for Garoppolo before week 1. Trey balls out and becomes the 1st rookie QB to win a Super Bowl.

So we are hoping for a team to get their QB injured so they want to trade for a QB that tends to get injured. Fingers are crossed.

Worked for the Eagles when they moved Bradford for a 1st and 4th I'd say Bradford is actually more injury prone then Jimmy (all though more talented).

Too early to say, Sam made it through two full seasons at least.

Not sure if there really is a highend back up out there, but they did look into back ups before we could secure the #3 pick remember ?

Darnold, Trubosky, Dalton, Flacco Sudfeld, Rosen Etc

Sudfeld is not a high end backup. Neither is Rosen.

You think if they got Darnold/Mitch/Flacco that means they don't spend 3 1sts and a 3rd on a QB? I find that hard to believe.

IMO and that's all it is, if they land one of those guys Jimmy is gone and they still grab Lance. They were always gonna upgrade from Jimmy whether it was via vet trade or through the draft.
Like i said, who is really a high end back up out there, spending money and over trading doesn't make the player high end

Who said anything about about a back up being worth 3 firsts and a 3rd.. now your just making things up.

If they were just trying to get someone better then they certainly could have, if they felt that way.

Since the season ended, the 49ers explored every option which ended up going all in for the draft. Which was the better route, Lance still has to prove on the field he is better.
If you want him to prove it, here he does on a video. He proves he's a great kid from a nice family with moral values. He also provides a look at how people react when they see him play. ENJOY YOUR PEEK AT THE FUTURE.

Sam's knees were made of mush lol. He was pretty damn good at Oaklahoma though, I just saw an article talking about the business HOF for football players. Sam has made like $130M from 9 years in the NFL.... Damn good on him for a guy that didn't play much.

It's week 1 or 2022 Imo. No way Jimmy gets benched unless he's struggling or gets Injured.

I never said anything about a backup being worth 3 1sts..I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm saying they were gonna improve from Jimmy in some sort of way this off season, they were gonna find his replacement. Some people in here are saying the ONLY reason they went and got Lance was because Jimmy couldn't stay healthy and I say b******t to that. They wanted an upgrade.

IMO the only reason they actually talked about a guy like Dalton is for him to be the bridge to Lance, much like Jimmy is just would have cost about $14M less then what we have now.

Hard to prove you're better on the field when people in here don't want him to go on the field

1. HE COULDN'T STAY HEALTHY

2. THEY WANTED AND UPGRADE IF THEY WERE MAKING A MOVE

TWO SEPARATE POINTS

Do you not understand this…

Does that make it less condescending adding the little emoji's like you do?? Just curious..

Of course. But, if the issue was solely health, the 49ers could have gotten someone who would (likely) produce similar results, and stay healthy, for far less than they spent on Lance. I mean, based on the pre-draft hype, and where he ended up being selected, Mac could've been had for the 12th overall pick (hindsight, I know). And just about everyone said Mac wasn't worth the third overall pick because he was similar to JG, i.e. a sidegrade.

It seems, based on their actions, what was wanted was more than just a healthy JG clone. They wanted both an upgrade and consistent availability. This was more costly...obviously so. Hence the move up to number three overall.

I mean it's seems like common sense and shouldn't be some drawn out debate full of anger based off how we fill about a current player.

outside of straight up cutting Jimmy, there isn't a more obvious scenario to show that they wanted to upgrade at QB.
