The hope of those clinging to his jock is that Trey won't learn the offense in time. Dummies need to look up the word 'SAVANT". Trey is far superior between the ears as well. He has already learned the entire playbook and Kyle is thrilled by his smarts as well as his obvious physical talents. The competition will end quickly when Trey busts loose with a 30 yard run or hits Kittle or Aiyuk with a bomb. JG has started his last game for the Niners.

And you know this how, exactly. I swear some of the things that people say in these threads are just completely retarded. Unless Lance, with his one year of experience in Division II college football, proves to be one of the most prodigious, underestimated talents to ever come out of the college game there is almost no way Jimmy doesn't start week one, and continues to start as long as he is playing well. Lance is what, 21 years old, there is absolutely no reason to rush him into the starter's position when you already have a QB on the roster who has taken your team to the Super Bowl. The team, if it can stay healthy, has the roster to win now and Jimmy's experience gives them the best chance to do that. You don't give the keys to your Grand Prix race car to a kid that just got his driver's license. You give them to the experienced pro who has already been around the track a few times. If he falters somewhere along the way then you have had just that much more time to get your young driver ready. The team certainly expects Lance to be the future. But until he gets out on the field and demonstrates he is ready to grab the wheel all of this talk is just silly.

Your "experienced pro" gives them NO CHANCE to win. He is a statue in the pocket and has a Mickey Mouse arm. He hurts the running game big time as Lance runs a 4.4 while Jimmy couldn't win a sprint at the Little Sisters of the Poor. He didn't take the team to the Super Bowl. The defense and Raheem Mostert did that. Lance will demonstrate his superiority over Jimmy the minute he takes the field in preseason. That's the time you'll realize your puffing up Jimmy was foolish. Lance is the future and the future is NOW. Kyle can't afford to wait.

Lol I think he's being a little dramatic, but he's for sure pro-lance.

he's been regarded as the smartest QB in this draft by many and that's saying something with everyone else that was in this class.

you can see on the film he understands coverages and protection calls. His OC at NDSU talks about what he has to do in that system…which was high end stuff for any college QB let alone a 19 yr old. Quincy Avery, who teaches a ton of high end QBs said Lance's football IQ is the highest he's ever trained with.

you're last sentence is funny…ya'll want him to sit for a yr and the only way he can prove to you he can play is by….playing
when has a player entering the draft don't get praised?

all players tend to be the smartest, strongest one of kind player leading up to the draft. I don't fall for that rhetoric anymore.

He doesn't need to prove he can play right now, he's the future.

The 2021 season is the future. He wasn't drafted to simply sit and wait for some great QB's contract to expire or retire. This isin't a Favre/Rogers scenario. We need him the very moment his feet are wet and he's at least an adequate NFL QB.

Did you watch last season? We need a better QB than we had last year NOW, for sure. The only question is when will he clearly be a better QB. But no doubt, we need a better QB now if we really do want to contend.

Having another 2019 Superteam around a lesser QB is probably not in the cards. Could happen,...just not likely. So not going to act like 2020 just never happened.

Hard to judge a guy for a season where he was only healthy for 1.5 games.

i watched an injured QB and two back ups. yes we need better QBs.

Not sure why Jimmy playing hurts you. If jimmy can't perform then Lance comes in. And with the way you feel about jimmy that will happen and you get your wish

Jimmy is a great QB when hes healthy. rookies make mistakes more often and those mistakes can cause us losses in a superbowl or bust type season. its also essentially a contract year for Jimmy so he will ball out. Trey is the future, but Jimmy should start this year in my opinion. Trey knows our offense by all accounts but he has no idea how any NFL defense is gonna play him, he only knows the niners scheme and tendencies. the NFL game is a lot different from college football. hes not gonna be the fastest dude on the field all the time and im sure Bosa and Ford arent trying to mangle him in practice like Aaron Donald and the other Bosa will in the NFL.

Jimmy most certainly is not great, his high INT % shows this. He makes plenty of mistakes all the same.

when healthy Jimmy has been badass dude, I know you are excited to see Lance just like the rest of us but you cant take that away from him. when hes healthy he gets it done

He wasn't injured vs. Arizona (game 1). He was horribly off.

Wasn't injured during the playoff run either the year before. Didn't see this QB that brings a bunch of value to the team that we can't do without in 2021. So I'd contend that we do need Trey in 2021. Just not in game 1, hopefully.

We're going to average over 500 rushing attempts a year now. I hope you all are ready for that. That ain't sexy.

It is if you average 5+ YPC.

The play action bomb that comes from an elite running game is about the sexiest thing I can imagine.

you keep talking about the playoffs when it's alreay been confrmed by Kyle, no one was hiding jimmy

Jimmy was off but had a decent game with 2 td almost 300 yards and no INTs, if the defense and ST didn't s**t the bed we win easily with a normal jimmy performance

Not sure if it's that early

It's week 1 or 2022 Imo. No way Jimmy gets benched unless he's struggling or gets Injured.

So there is a way?

Always a way 😜
