The hope of those clinging to his jock is that Trey won't learn the offense in time. Dummies need to look up the word 'SAVANT". Trey is far superior between the ears as well. He has already learned the entire playbook and Kyle is thrilled by his smarts as well as his obvious physical talents. The competition will end quickly when Trey busts loose with a 30 yard run or hits Kittle or Aiyuk with a bomb. JG has started his last game for the Niners.
And you know this how, exactly. I swear some of the things that people say in these threads are just completely retarded. Unless Lance, with his one year of experience in Division II college football, proves to be one of the most prodigious, underestimated talents to ever come out of the college game there is almost no way Jimmy doesn't start week one, and continues to start as long as he is playing well. Lance is what, 21 years old, there is absolutely no reason to rush him into the starter's position when you already have a QB on the roster who has taken your team to the Super Bowl. The team, if it can stay healthy, has the roster to win now and Jimmy's experience gives them the best chance to do that. You don't give the keys to your Grand Prix race car to a kid that just got his driver's license. You give them to the experienced pro who has already been around the track a few times. If he falters somewhere along the way then you have had just that much more time to get your young driver ready. The team certainly expects Lance to be the future. But until he gets out on the field and demonstrates he is ready to grab the wheel all of this talk is just silly.
Your "experienced pro" gives them NO CHANCE to win. He is a statue in the pocket and has a Mickey Mouse arm. He hurts the running game big time as Lance runs a 4.4 while Jimmy couldn't win a sprint at the Little Sisters of the Poor. He didn't take the team to the Super Bowl. The defense and Raheem Mostert did that. Lance will demonstrate his superiority over Jimmy the minute he takes the field in preseason. That's the time you'll realize your puffing up Jimmy was foolish. Lance is the future and the future is NOW. Kyle can't afford to wait.
