Wasn't injured during the playoff run either the year before. Didn't see this QB that brings a bunch of value to the team that we can't do without in 2021. So I'd contend that we do need Trey in 2021. Just not in game 1, hopefully.

Jimmy was off but had a decent game with 2 td almost 300 yards and no INTs, if the defense and ST didn't s**t the bed we win easily with a normal jimmy performance

And that first game was with Bourne and Pettis as the starting wrs. Not a Jimmy apologist just adding context.

It's week 1 or 2022 Imo. No way Jimmy gets benched unless he's struggling or gets Injured.

So then week 3 or 4? Just hope the kid is ready to fully step in by then.

He doesn't need to prove he can play right now, he's the future.

But they didn't say Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, Fields were the smartest....the majority said it was Lance (football IQ) after speaking with him and having him on the white board. Plenty of reports back it up. They didn't have to lie about it.

So no players don't all tend to be the best at something every year...there's a reason SF spent 3 1sts on him. There's a reason that other teams had him high on their draft board. Chris Ballard had their "blue card" for only two players in the 1st rd on their draft board. Devonte Smith and Trey. Ballard I would say is pretty good at evaluating, no?

He has to get better just like every player and you do that by playing...be different if we had a legit stud QB ahead of him. We don't we have a middle of the pack starter.

No he hasn't...he's been avg to above avg in spots. I've said this way before we had Lance.

Jimmy's footwork is junk, his arm strength is avg, his football IQ is starter worthy, not great though...he had a margin error the size of the grand canyon in 2019. I'm sorry I guess we have different ideas of what badass is.

Yeah he's not a straight up statue but for the most part his "Mobility" is a negative compared to the rest of the league.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Jimmy isn't junk, he's a starter. IMO he's a middle of the pack starter on a very good team with a wizard calling plays, that will make a middle of the road starter better. That's not hating on him either.

I'm fine if he starters the season as QB1, my whole point is Trey riding the pine isn't gonna make him marginally better next yr vs if he played at some point this yr. People point to like two scenarios to say there see...never mind all the other QBs that actually played YR1 that went on to be great QBs in the league. Never mind the Jack Lockers' of the league who sat out and didn't do s**t.

Being put on a Super Bowl roster with a top 5 coaching staff, will help any QB we drafted succeed...just like it helped Jimmy win games. Once Lance is confident in the system Kyle has setup for him (could be sooner than later who knows) he will be the guy out there and there's really not too much Jimmy can do about it.

My post didn't say anything about him being hidden. It DID, however, say that I saw an underwhelming QB that's not suddenly some QB in 2021 that can handle the position just fine himself and "lead us to a Super Bowl."

This player you're seeing, apparently, I just haven't seen. Certainly didn't see him last year. He had a very solid game last year I recall. Was he injured then? Or is it only the bad highlight games where we can pass off due to being injured?

I know he wasn't injured when he looked bad and injured Kittle. He looked just fine physically,...just played bad.

The entire contention that Trey can play earlier falls under the theory that Shanahan honestly doesn't have to ask his QBs to do very much to be successful. Thinking he has is in alot of ways an illusion.

If the offensive success ran entirely through him like some other QB-reliant offenses then yea, maybe he might need more time. But for the offense we've seen recently? He can probably be ready alot more quickly than you'd like, I'm afraid.

Regardless of how he performs, Jimmy has 21 games or less left in his 49ers tenure. Let's hope he makes the most of them.
