LOL. Trey played 4+ quarters last season. And in the rain. If Brock played like Trey did for that short of time in the rain and we cut him, that would be a front office/coaching issue more than an indictment on the QB.

Chris Simms said it best: "I've seen enough".

Based on what? Pretty much everyone speaks very highly of his intelligence.

Trey might be a genius but that doesn't necessarily means he has a high football IQ.

Yep. He definitely missed some open plays on Sunday. I still believe its because he is a touch late with everything. Hope the game slows down for him, so he can really show if he has it or doesnt have it.

I don't know, man. That all-22 was UGLY. How slow does the game need to be to see two wide open curls on the same play? Doesn't get any easier than that. And it happened several times. His only successful plays were first read quick outs and play action roll outs to the flat. Not winning many games doing that.

And where will these reps come from? Seems like HIS best shot is with a different team.

Yeah I dont know that his reps will come with our team. In fact, I hope they dont because if they do, that will mean Purdy isnt who we think he is (or hurt).

Its just very obvious it takes a while for the game to slow down for a prospect QB. And 4+ games is not enough for that to have happened. I know it didnt look very good, and I never claimed otherwise. I just think given the circumstances, the over the top reactions are unwarranted. I expect him to be better next week.

Even after three years in the system though? That's the part that's so odd to me. He looked MORE lost than ever before. Would be interesting to be in the film room with Kyle and the QB's.

The thing is he isn't even special as a runner. He doesn't avoid sacks really can't run away from a DE or LB and isn't running anyone over. Should have drafted Field's if they wanted that athleticism

Isn't the game slowing down for a QB part of if he has it or not? Lol. We already know he has the physical tools.

To an extent, sure. But even crappy players can have the game slow down for them once they get more experience.

Being in the same system is not the same thing as getting game reps. The speed of the game is what he needs to adjust to. If Trey looks like he did Sunday all preseason long, then the "he looks more lost than ever before" comment I will be able to buy a little more than I do now. He hasnt played since September and is coming off a bad injury. Lets see how the rest of the preseason shakes out.

Why in your defense? Did you have some overlapping ideas or something? I haven't watched either yet.

Yeach, we had some overlap. I always worry people are going to think I'm just swooping a guys analysis

He took mental reps and should know where wide open guys are though after 3 years in the offense. The wide open guys he didn't throw to are on tape

Very curious to see how we trot out the QBs in this next game. I think Trey will be better, hopefully he has a little more "eff it" and just guns it.

if he did more of that, he would be just fine. I don't mind him taking chances, but right now he's hesitant to take chances.

Let's see how the rest of the pre season plays out, still a few more weeks. Not a good start but he may still be able to lock down QB2, although seems like he may be behind now.

Or where to NOT go with the ball in cover 2. That's probably the most disappointing part of his play, the other stuff was just being being hesitant and timid but mis reading defenses is what can become concerning.
