i was hoping Kyle would go for the TD and let Trey try to punch it in, but it's all good. I think Kyle wanted to give moody some confidence.

hell of a finish for Trey. I've been saying it, he needs to play loose and with "eff it". The plays are there for him, he just needs to stop being hesitant/timid.

Agree. I think so far, based on the games it seems like Sammy D is QB2. The stat line doesn't tell the story of how well he played. Awful penalties and drop tip interceptions ruined chunk plays he should've had. Now to be fair, Trey had a few of his chunk plays called back or dropped too.

Overall though, Sam has more NFL experience and is obviously very talented too. At the end of the day, do you trust Lance who doesn't have much NFL experience, to get critical wins? I don't think I'm there now.

I like Lance but from what I've seen so far, Sam has the edge now.

Sadly I see the Alex smith comparisons are fairly accurate. Trey was tentative as hell last week and for the first few series this week.

Once he let it rip and just essentially threw the ball blind and trusted his receivers to make plays, you could see the high pick talent.

He could be better than Smith was but it's a little too late and he's too buried down the depth chart. The difference is also Alex looked like Trey on a mediocre team with different offenses every year.

Trey has had nothing but consistency and talent around him and still shows tentativeness and holds the ball way too long.

You see the talent but there's a good chance he never becomes anything. He was already placed in the best position possible and hasn't progressed enough in 3 years to manifest his full potential.

The problem is he hasn't stayed healthy enough to get those game reps to really see if he can manifest his full potential. Alex played way more in his first two years than Trey has too, so this is not a good comparison at this point.

It doesn't matter if it's year 3. He has no experience. I don't fault our team for effectively moving on, but it's also their fault we're in this spot from a planning perspective. Trey always needed a lot of runway.
edit-totally misread your comment sir. my bad, nice post

No one knew Brock was Brock. No fault here on anyone imo. This could still be an embarrassment of riches situation if the good lord sees to it

Hardly anything to write home about considering the level of competition Trey faced in the 4Q.

First couple of drives, better than last week but still not good.

Last two drives, looked like the third pick in the draft.

Started off shaky and then locked in late

Started off not good. Might have had his best showing as a pro over the last two possessions. He got in rhythm and marched the team down the field.

Alot of the usuals are missing so he probably ended the night well.
Lance did some things those last two drives he's never done.

(1) He was accurate like an NFL QB on basically every throw on those drives
(2) He was consistently on time
(3) He was nimble enough to escape the rush
(4) He moved defenders with his eyes
(5) He didn't look like he was playing in quicksand

He needs reps.
Proud of him, I think he is back in it for QB2. Hope to see more against the Chargers letssss goooo

Some will disagree but I think he played pretty damn well outside of 2 or 3 really bad mistakes. He threw it right into a defender on a screen for his int which was a pretty dumb play and he threw at least another one on an out that he was trying to throw away but didn't get enough on it and a defender could've had it. Besides that though he was moving the chains every drive even the interception drive.

Much like last weeks stat sheet looking much better than what we saw, this stat sheet doesn't do justice to how good he looked the final drives
