To play Darnold or Allen is being dumb as f**k regarding your top 3 pick investment.

People willfully forgetting it has been Darnold who has been the bust not Trey with 55 starts of trash. If Trey played like Darnold over 55 starts I'd have been done with his ass too.

I feel about Darnold the way I did about Jimmy - I don't want to see him take another snap for the 49ers unless Brock and Trey go down to injury. Dumb ass Kyle passing on looking at Mahomes and his Kirk Cousins crush and now Darnold being here taking away reps from Trey when he's had 4 years of reps and suckage in real games and two teams didn't even want his ass. Not to mention apparently he always has had good numbers in the preseason so any decent play really means jack s**t w him.

Darnold completely outplayed Trey so far in the preseason IMO. I think in terms of turnover worthy plays Darnold had 0, while Trey had like 5 or 6.

At the end of the day what is important it is not what Trey needs, but rather what is good for the team. If Darnold is the frontrunner for the QB2 role he certainly should play vs Chargers.

The appearances in the pre season are so sparse that you can't judge much from what we see. Playing a series or two and then letting the other guy do the same doesn't allow players to find a groove. Notice w Trey started kind of rocky ut found a groove a little late in the 4th. It's not uncommon to see QBs start out red hot and then start missing a few or start ice cold and then get hot. Eventually they all end up completing between 55% and 70%. With the shorter pre season and the fear of playing starters it's now the practices where coaches are making their decisions.

Hahaha roasted.

JTO did mention a couple of good plays too, but he didn't talk about the Snead catch with the single high coverage that was a super tight window. I was wondering if he thought that was the right place to throw it.

That is a roast he 100% deserves

He didn't just say it was a bad play. He went on and on about how he has never seen anything like it and it was the worst thing ever.

I didn't think it was that egregious of a decision. He tried to feather it over the top of the defender and if he had been able to clear it would have been a nice gain. Very similar to the interception earlier. He's still working out the kinks, getting a feel for his touch and what he needs to work on. That only comes with well doooh, more reps
Trey had some really nice throws and is clearly improving. Proud of him to push through all of the adversity. Brock still obviously our #1 and likely that going forward for the foreseeable future, but should keep Trey(unless blown away with an offer) and hope he can get some garbage time play throughout this year and really show out.
I noticed that when Brock throws a wobbly pass it looks like he kind of gets under the throw and the nose of the football turns upward. It's something that should be correctable.

you have absolutely no idea if he's been as good as Brock, or even good in camp. It's all based off of YouTube bloggers. Lol they don't even know what the team is doing when they're watching. Lance could of had a practice stat sheet of 10-15 with a touchdown and you'd think it's amazing, but we just watched in the raiders game with that same stat sheet that he looked horrendous. I don't think Lance has been terrible in camp but your "point" is literally baseless.

you also don't know if he would be QB1. The only difference would probably be that dsrnold and Lance would be competing for QB1 or the team would of tried to get Cousins or some thing. Lance isn't in this situation cause of Brock. If Lance was being a stud, the team wouldn't make him compete for QB2, it's just common sense.

lol once again, you really have no idea if Lance has been balling in camp.

You say this to someone but have no problem posting about his lack of development, as if YOU have any sort of idea. Contradict much?

Lol his lack of development has widely been reported and shows in his play. The few times he's played. Just watch JTOs video. He talks about all these things that not even rookies typically do that Lance does.

we don't know how good any of the QBs have actually been in camp, that isn't just for Lance. CMC did an interview recentky talking about how all these reports he sees, they kinda laugh at, cause they don't really know what the team is working on.

More contradictions.

"It's been widely reported and shows in his play."

"We don't know how good any of these QBs have actually been in camp."

(Paraphrasing) "CMC laughs at reports because they don't know what the team is working on."

Like I said, you tell someone that they have no idea if he is balling out in camp, and then say that "we don't know how good anyone else has been in camp" at the same time you definitively talk about his lack of development.

Makes no sense dude. None.

Well, I don't know about that. While Darnold has seemingly "looked" the part, how many scoring drives has he actually led so far? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Maybe a field goal drive. I'm not at all sold on Darnold as the de facto #2. Lance has certainly had his problems so far, but I think there were some encouraging things about his last drive or two against Denver. While our religious friend is a bit of fanatic when it comes to Lance, and all that entails, I wouldn't mind seeing the kid get the lion's share of the reps against the Chargers. Put him in for most of the game, with all of the different line-ups and see how he fares. Couldn't hurt anything at this point.

JTO made that SAME play (for SF) that he's now laughing at. so maybe he needs to hush up a little bit.

So now any positive reports from camp regarding Lance are make believe? But anything positive that tankle posts about Brock regarding camp mean something?

man the passive aggressive hypocritical stuff is just wild sometimes

I personally think Darnold is qb3 and needs more hand holding to reboot his development than Lance currently needs with his own. His arm is fantastic, but his processing/confidence is just not there. God forbid Purdy was hurt I would much rather ride with Lance than Darnold assuming significant growing pains.

Darnold has the higher floor

Lance has the higher ceiling

If Purdy is out for 1-3 games i pick Darnold
If Purdy is out for the season I pick Lance

If you want to win a SB and beat playoff teams you need the higher ceiling.
I don't care if they put Trey as the number 3 or 2 on the depth chart. I don't care if he gets cut at some point. I only care that we give him the chance to develop and prove himself one way or another. We don't know what we have with Lance or Purdy. So give the kid as many reps as you can find him against the Chargers, please. The obsession with the trade and what we loss is understandable, but you have to balance the bone head wasted draft picks with the late round and free agent gems this staff has consistently found. Including the guy who most believe to be our franchise QB right now.

I am pretty sure that won't happen. Brock will get whatever number of snaps he needs, and then it will probably be split between Trey and Darnold.

I mean, all that is pretty irrelevant to us and the 49ers. Since basically the 49ers didn't have to spend 1st round picks to get him and they got him at a reasonable veteran back up QB price of just over $4 million. So in actuality he's nothing but a back up to us.
