This decision is so dumb to me. And don't talk to me about the "Kyle wants the best man in there" BS argument. He destroyed any chance of seeing what we have with Trey and also destroyed what little positive psyche the kid may have left.
Sam Darnold is not better than Trey Lance. I love Kyle and John but I don't agree with this. Until they win a SB we are still allowed to question them and be skeptical.

Actually Mike McDaniel did that so stop.

Shanny has no time for that but someone needed to be in place to get him NFL ready. He was destined for injury the way Shanahan set up the offense so the playcaller is partly to blame for his injury.
Although a slow starter, this kid has shown improvement and displayed unbelievable talent as well as improved anticipation. He may not be NFL ready but trading him and keeping Darnold will be the regret of the decade. Lance will light up the NFL in a few years. Purdy better stay healthy because Darnold did not impress me much. He had some s**tty throws for a "veteran." I trust Darnold's long throws as much as I trust Jimmy's.

stats dont tell the story tho. c'mon dude.

I don't think it was "decided", I think Trey had a real chance to win QB2, but I think Kyle always leaned towards darnold. His contract is structured to be a QB2 and not QB3.
I really question if Lance has been having a great camp, the coaches have been very strict about praising him outside "he's improved". Then based on his pre season play, I doubt he's been executing the plays correctly, consistently.
people acted like he's balled this pre season but outside of those last two drives, he's been really really bad. Even the second to last drive he had, where he finished it well, he had some bad plays that easily could/should of been turnovers. You have to look at the entire body of work.
Lances play has been very volatile. Darnolds been more consistent - neither has lit it up but I think the main difference has been the volatility.

4th is reasonable with that salary. Having him third behind Brock and Darnit doesn't help his value. His limited action looked underwhelming also.
Yeah, a 4th sound pretty good based on him being QB3 and history so far.

Give up a ransom and never really develop the guy you knew was rawraw from the beginning. Wow
We haven't even played a game yet,...lol. There's alot of football left to be played.
Lance is still a developmental player. Relax.

The decision to draft him #3 overall is even dumber.
We are not trying to win a super bowl, we are trying to build a team that Kyle Shanahan would like to hang out with and go to Cancun with. I do think Purdy should be the starter but SAM DARNOLD???
This shows KS knows nothing about the QB position. However I knew this when he passed up on Mahomes & Watson for Solomon Thomas and drafted Beathard.

I'm not surprised that he's the #3 (in name anyway), but if the team is exploring options, I guess Trey shined enough in the last game to get a trade they're interested in.

Not sure why they would Trade him unless.
1. They really don't think he is good and there is no hope to make him better, so they just want to get rid of him for anything now since they know they will get nothing better in the future.
2. They need to save a little bit of money this year for some reason. Maybe something to do with Bosa. Don't think we save a bunch for trading him though.
3. They have actually got really high offers from other teams that really like him and want him.

Would have been better to stay pit at #12 and drafted whatever QB fell to them. And cut them after a year in need be and would be in better position today. Would still had the other two 1st rounders and 3rd at least. Oh well hindsight is 20/20.
