Gotta feel bad for Lance

I feel ZERO pity for someone that is bound to make $9 million.

You should be feeling bad for Purdy. He's making just under a mill and has done wonders for the 49ers!!! And his contract can't even be touched till next season.

Not everyone cares about money.

My broke ass does!!!!

I feel more bad for all the Lance jersey wearers. lol

Well I fully didn't expect this, after what happened last year. Maybe they need his money to pay Bosa.

I think it's that and they want backup QBs they can trust out there to run the offense if needed. He looked non functional, in preseason for the most part. In year 3 of 4. I know he had injuries, but he should also have 3 years of mental reps, in addition to a lot of actual reps, gearing up to be QB1 all last offseason for instance.

Allen is not better than Lance dude.

No he's not. He's a PS low end backup. He just cost the team nothing.
Imagine being so excited and happy about this. Clown show of a fan base.

Trey was the right pick but wrong team. He had to go to a team who's HC knew how to develop QB's. Kyle is clueless in that regard. He only wants a system QB which will be his downfall and will be the reason we never win a SB with him.

Sadly at this point I fully agree with you. When they drafted Trey I felt it was Kyle checking himself and trying to grow.
lol Kyle has excelled with all types of QBs... sometimes the QB just doesn't have what it takes

Agree. Bill Walsh was the absolute guru of QB's, but even he flopped with some. Steve DeBerg comes to mind. He didn't draft him, but he did try to develop him. He failed.

HC's who are also QB gurus are not infallible. Everyone makes mistakes. Not sure yet if Trey is one of them. Time will tell.

lol he hasn't won't anything in his career yet with any qb he's worked with.

Last shoe to drop is when we learn that Shanny was forced to pick TL, but this won't come out for years.

100%

From Ownership?

From somebody. I think Kyle loved Mac Jones who was a prototypical Shanahan QB but received pushback from all across the organization, including Lynch and even ownership who wanted to make a big splash with an exciting "Next Gen" QB instead of a boring pocket passer.

They moved up and still had no idea who they were taking which was the real mistake. You don't trade away two first round picks to still try to figure out who you're going to take. Should have stood pat and taken Rashawn Slater if they needed to talk themselves into one QB or a other.

So who takes him?

Patriots? Ravens? Falcons? Commanders? Dolphins maybe?

Vikings. Titans. Broncos maybe?

I could see those, but I think he goes somewhere that doesn't have much of a plan at backup or future starter.
Huge scratch on Shanahans resume.
Giving up a kings ransom and handling it up to this point.
Purdy better be a constant ProBowler (who they lucked in)

He wasn't forced. He was convinced, probably by Lynch, probably with Lynch holding Mahomes over his head. "I told you with Mahomes and you didn't listen" kind of thing.

I would guess he could have been incentivized by ownership. Our fans were absolutely melting down pre draft with the prospect of taking Mac Jones. It was loud on social media. Jed's act on draft day let you know they noticed.

That would be as sinister as it gets IMO. No way they 'forced' the pick on Kyle. We'd know already.

Justin Fields probally thanking his lucky stars he wasn't drafted by Kyle. Who would have thought that being drafted by the Lowly Bears would have been a better career move than being drafted by the Niners.
Lol, yeah because the Bears are contending every year.
This stinks

Agreed, kyle would have forced him to stay in the pocket and not use his athletic traits. I can imagine seeing kyle on the sideline screaming when he takes off for a 40 yard TD lol.

guess we have to face it, kyle doesn't want a QB like that.

Normally that would apply who made the choice. Either GM, Coach, or both, or they were forced by ownership.

I didn't say that, but I'll say it now, if they needed to win a game tomorrow, I think they would start Allen. I think he would give a better chance to win a football game tomorrow. Just my opinion. But it really, it's not about Allen. It's about that contract, not working as QB3.
