I can imagine seeing kyle on the sideline screaming when he takes off for a 40 yard TD lol.

guess we have to face it, kyle doesn't want a QB like that.

Yeah. How many times in three years did Trey pull this off?

how is Cohnhead going to spin this one? I can see it now "Trey purposely looked bad in camp and preseason so he could be the scout team QB for the season to gain valuable reps."
He'll attack and diminish Kyle and John NFL competencies.

this will be the first move by everyone who is upset about the news.

Well I fully didn't expect this, after what happened last year. Maybe they need his money to pay Bosa.

I think it's that and they want backup QBs they can trust out there to run the offense if needed. He looked non functional, in preseason for the most part. In year 3 of 4. I know he had injuries, but he should also have 3 years of mental reps, in addition to a lot of actual reps, gearing up to be QB1 all last offseason for instance.

Allen is not better than Lance dude.

I didn't say that, but I'll say it now, if they needed to win a game tomorrow, I think they would start Allen. I think he would give a better chance to win a football game tomorrow. Just my opinion. But it really, it's not about Allen. It's about that contract, not working as QB3.

I would say that's not correct. But if it's about the contract, where's the salary cap gurus? When does cap rollover happen? If they're hoping for that I can see it, but there's no more splash free agents out there.

This is what I think happened. Keep in mind, this is just my tinfoil hat theory. I'm just connecting the dots to everything that happened during the draft process.

Kyle wanted Mac Jones. Everyone and their Mom knew it. There were multiple reports that Adam Peters and other people in the front office loved Trey Lance. The fanbase was going ape s**t at the thought of drafting Mac Jones. The backlash was deafening. The ownership saw this and probably told Kyle to reconsider drafting Mac Jones. The Yorks coupled with Peters and others in the front office talked Kyle into open his mind to drafting Trey. He always talks about Trey as a person. He probably really liked Trey as a person and conceded to Peters and the rest on his ability as a player.

Basically just said the same thing.

'Take a chance on this kid and we won't tie your job security to it'

Have a hard time wrapping my mind around KS not taking his guy. KS openly talked about Josh Allen, and those kind of guys opening up what you can do. Taking the league over. I always thought he, as more a coach and not a GM, just squinted a saw his Allen or Mahomes, probably overestimated his ability to get that out of him.

lol Kyle has excelled with all types of QBs... sometimes the QB just doesn't have what it takes

Kyle has failed to adapt with the times...Any good QB he has had has never had the ability to improvise

Purdy improvises all the time wtf you talking out of?

Kyle is the one who is choosing these QB's. The QB and the HC will always be tied together.

Purdy is fully capable of improvisation.

Trey lance.

If kyle wanted McCorkle, he would have drafted him. Dude has the power and even Lynch said he deferred to kyle regarding the QB. Kyle doesn't give a flying f**k about the fan base. Look at all the other things he's done. Lynch is the mouth piece nothing more. They've almost lost Peters multiple times. They aren't gonna overrule Kyle as long as he's here and at a position as important as QB. I don't buy any of that for a second.

end of the day kyle swung for the fences and whiffed. I mean he didn't even really swing lol. He got up their and just sat down

Glad he didn't draft Mahomes or Allen. More than likely would have hurt their careers then allow them to play free.

It's just not black and white with prospects. He liked them both, possibly on different levels, I'm sure. Might have just needed a nudge.

What if the league figures out Purdy? Then what? We're back to square one and you gave up on a guy you gave 3 1sts before assessing what he could actually do given the reps.

How come it's always national media that breaks stories like these? Why are Maiocco, Barrows, and Lombardi getting scooped? (I refuse to apologize if I misspelled MM's name).

Some people like to believe we don't leak. Lmao…

You're assuming it's coming from the 49ers. If this is coming out today then guaranteed they've been already trying to move Lance.

This. Timing of these announcements makes it pretty obvious, and Lance's absence at practice makes me think things will happen pretty quickly.

Yah just like when Mike and Kyle Shanahan drafted RG3??

I'd buy it. Mac Jones was another Cousins/Ryan "stay in the framework of the offense" type. Always made the most sense.

Had they just stood pat, they could have taken him and no one would have complained. Once they traded up then it had to be a big boom type pick.

They should have never traded up without a firmly established target in mind. The only guy worth moving up for in that draft class was Lawrence.

1000% agree. Worst decision the team made, and I'm not talking about Lance. I'm referring to the trade up without any player in mind. I like Kyle but he royally screwed this up.
Kyle chose Lance, no way in hell he took a player he didn't want or prefer. it's that simple. Lance got hurt, purdy came in, and it derailed the plan. the mistake was taking such a raw player, never made sense with this roster and timeline. they drastically under estimated how raw lance was, then the injuries compounded that.
