I agree with this. I think Kyle was really big on Mac and Lynch said "OMG, you have to check out Lance!" Then Peters and other scours said "Lance has incredible talent, he's a baller!" Then Kyle watched lots of tape of Lance and then Lynch came around and said "he's such a nice kid, his background is super clean, hard worker, he's raw but you can work with him and make a match up nightmare!"

Then Kyle said "f**k it, he's got a ton of talent, I think I can work with him!"

Parts of Lance never made sense to me. It's a rhythm passing offense, a quick draw offense where getting the ball out in a hurry is everything so Kyle goes with a guy with a messed up throwing motion? It's also a complex passing offense that even seasoned veterans have struggled with so you bring in this kid with 300 college passing attempts who was more of a high end game manager who rarely threw more than 25 times in a game? Something didn't add up.

I think he was talked into Lance to where no one had to drag him kicking and screaming but where he was going to give him a quick hook if he didn't progress as fast as Kyle expected.

Agreed they made the biggest trade in franchise history and royalty f**ked it up. I don't want Kyle fired or anything, but how do they get a pass for this? The process was dog s**t. From moving up and not even knowing who they would take. Passing on one of the highest ranked recruits in college history at QB, to making Lance a scout QB his whole rookie yr (which almost NEVER happens regardless of anything), to giving him 31 snaps last yr and then forcing him to split snaps with a guy that's been a turd in the NFL for half a decade…who so happens to have over 50 starts under his belt (no s**t he looks like he could be a good backup).

They lucked into Brock, who we have no f**king clue what he really is long-term. We're one bad snap away from counting on Sam Darnold to lead SF to the promise land? Lol that's not a SB team imo.

at this point just move him and let him actually have a chance to play football. I hope he balls out and they regret it.

Everyone takes it all so personal.

It's a swing and a miss. It happens, it's a giant miss, but the regime has so many giant hits, that they don't suffer as most franchises would from such a big miss.

I`m not upset about it, I believe we got the real deal and a future franchise QB with Brock. However we got here, doesn't matter anymore, can't go back.

I thought we were basically good with Jimmy but should have drafted a 2nd or 3rd round guy to push em. We went for the fences, came up way short, but hit a bunch of singles and doubles at all our other at bats so we're going to be okay.

Can't can a regime who brought in

Kittle - 5th rd
Warner - 3rd rd
Deebo - 2nd rd
Greenlaw - 5th rd
Hufanga - 5th rd
Purdy - 7th round
ELijah Mitchell - 6th rd
Juauan J - 7thd rd
CMC trade

Trey, our biggest miss, and we're still a title contender.

Meanwhile, in the 1st round:

Solomon Thomas (3rd overall)
Reuben Foster (31st)
Mike McGlinchey (9th)
Nick Bosa (2nd)
Javon Kinlaw (14th)
Brandon Aiyuk (25th)
Trey Lance (3rd overall + 2 other 1st round picks)

They got plenty wrong, but built a damn good roster. My issue is how horribly they've been with finding that QB. Pasted on opportunities to have the GOAT, the guy who's gonna be the next GOAT, a rock star who all he wanted was to play for SF, s**t toss in Rogers/Stafford as well.

Here's to hoping they finally got it right with Purdy then, my man! Even if they did fall ass over teakettle into the situation.

I am socked we are one good season away from walking away from this with no one getting fired over it.

It is mind boggling. We will not see that very often for sure.

Yet if we get better QB play this year then they have in the Shanahan era they can win despite those misses. That's the importance of the QB.

Would have been banned for saying this about Jimmy stans maybe.

s**t you beat me to it
Trey was given the keys in 2022 and shattered his ankle game 2

His chance to play and gain experience ended there

NFL is a cutthroat business

Not how i saw this playing out but im a 49er fan not a trey lance fan

Go Brock Purdy and 49ers!

Good luck on your next team Trey

i'd add Washington to that list. Bienamy would like Trey's skill set and they're depending on Howell - thats dicey

I think Washington is a potential spot as well.

I'd say more a question about evaluating QBs

That's the most reasonable answer. A shame no one talked him into Fields, who has more physical talent.

To me thats more "they lucked into a great roster" than they built a great roster.
If they knew how good Kittle, Warner,... would be, those would have been their early round picks.

What they did is: f**k up 80% of their 1st and 2nd rounders and luck into their late round picks.
Those early picks are the players you believe in the most, thats why you pick them over those you select later.
And we know lynch and shanahan give a s**t on draft grades, projections of who goes where and value.

Pretty remarkable how much s**t they've lucked into lol

Yep. Brock has developed really well.

Dolphins was always my thought.... Tua has a glass jaw and McDaniel has history with TL

Can't be Dolphins, optics would be even worse than it is now.
