What? He lost the competition for the QB2 role fair and square. He doesn't deserve anything.

I don't think it was very fair or square

He was given 4 random games lol. He had a broken finger YR1 where he had to change his mechanics just to hold onto the ball.

he was given a massive rainstorm game WK1 where the WHOLE team stunk and given 2 QRs the next week, then broken his ankle because of a blown block from his all-pro LT on a f**king horrible play call.

So we're talking about what ifs and probabilities to push a narrative. Gotcha.

Last year, he was named the undisputed starter very early in the offseason, so he was QB1 throughout training camp and presesson, and end up starting week 1 and week 2. How is this "random"?

well It happened and we can't wait to when trey is ready . Why can't you get that?

So then you agree it was a f**king horrible move from day 1. They f**ked up the process from beginning to end and people act like it was just Lance…not the whole damn organization.

dude never had a chance and yet fans will fan.

He had a chance and was hurt and not better than Brock now. Maybe it works out somewhere else

No it wasn't. People talking about deserving are the same folks that defended Jimmy being made the highest paid player in NFL history after 5 meaningless games at the end of the year lol.

Let's face it, most don't have patience and want instant gratification. Never mind we've been waiting 20 yrs to have a legit QB. God forbid we let one full season of play happen before making a final judgement.

That's basically the Raiders game which would be pretty hypocritical of Kyle to use that game for the starting point considering how much he claims preseason doesn't matter.

As I said in a previous post the evaluation from that game is stupid. Trey was playing with the backup OL vs better players on Vegas. Little run playcalls and got buried for it. Darnold comes in with some good and some ugly vs car salesmen(yet somehow that only gets brought up when Trey plays well vs Denver)

it just reeks to me and given the talk of Darnold being QB1 before Brock was cleared or QB2 after it smells like this was Kyle's plan all along unless Trey showed up looking like Mahomes.

The raiders weren't playing starters and it was adequately, for me, documented from JT O'Sullivan that Trey turned down a lot of opportunities which also led to some of those sacks. The opportunities were there but he did not perform.

No he actually didn't have his chance.

so if Brock gets hurt again, he's out right? He was just lucky his injury didn't happen at the beginning of the season.

Same or we just should just sit all our starters so our 3rd and 4th string can develop no matter how many years it will take

Or you develop the QB behind a great team to help him improve while not forcing him to be the main reason they win or lose games….you know like we've been doing for years here.

run the ball a f**k ton and play great D.

Apparently they don't think he's good enough even for that, they got it wrong when they drafted him and are now doing what's best for the team long term. Sorry

If Brock gets hurt for the season and wasn't playing good leading up to it and Sam goes undefeated or posts a great record while playing similar to how Purdy did last season statistically, then Brock is probably losing his job.

Lance was given a chance to be the man. He got hurt, not the 49ers fault

I think you are coming to realizations I had around draft day. He is/was a raw, extremely young, lightly recruited, from where is this college conference, who barely played for a year, DNP'd 2020, and is walking into a club in a SB window. How exactly is that fit gonna go?

The hope was with 18 months to watch he would be leveled up enough to be a guy. He wasn't, I mean we got beat by legit the worst club in football, a team that went 3-14. Remember the Mike Martz take on TL, that a lot of folks dismissed, cuz they didn't want to hear it, he had it correct imo. He said TLs not really an athlete, doesn't move well, and is a LONG ways off as a passer. He was correct.

You also forgot that when he was given the opportunity to start and seize the job year 1 he hurt his knee and jimmy had to come back early to start a week later.

Agree on what, moving up to get a QB has failed many times in football. Trey is not the guy, a horrible move would would be playing him when he is obviously not the best qb on the roster

If Darold or Lance comes in and lights it up and wins 7 in a row? Sure, take a seat lil guy

They made a mistake in drafting him, they moved on. Lance got paid top 3 pick money when he shouldn't have, so it is a wash for him
