People were comparing skillsets and physical traits, that Purdy reminded them of those players. Similar to how many said Trey reminded them of Donovan McNabb and Steve McNair. They are comparisons, not "hope that they turn into" those players.

Relax a little about it, man. You put A LOT into Trey and I'm sure this stings. Hell it stings for me because I'm a Niners fan and wanted him to do well. I celebrated like crazy when we drafted him. Just not a good system fit and a terrible trade to move up to get him. Had we drafted him at #13 this would be much different; too much pressure on him to be a franchise QB.

I also do not understand AT ALL why so many are celebrating this and kicking Trey while he's down. Totally classless. No reason we can't wish him success and still be "real Niners fans." It's great for the Niners and the NFL when the Cowboys are good, makes the rivalry strong. Obviously we don't want Dallas/Trey to beat us, but imagine a playoff matchup of Dallas vs. SF with Trey as the starting QB for the Cowboys. Would be one of the most hyped playoff games of all time. Only scared Niners fans would not want that.
