Dallas Cowboys QB Trey Lance Thread

Was stupid to trade up for him. Stupid to give up after him only playing in 8 games. Stupid to trade him to Dallas of all places. Just bad management from every aspect.

And handled it with complete class. I never understood the hatred people had for him. It came off as personal and he did nothing to warrant it.

The team treated him well. Trey got injured and didn't developed fast enough, that is on Trey. If you lost out on a competition and got demoted to QB3, that is not the team's fault.

Not to pile on the kid but I would love it if he was the opposing QB in a playoff game.

Even if he was lighting it up prior to that game? Because if he is starting a playoff game it means the Cowboys are confident in him. I would rather face Dak than a motivated pissed off Trey Lance who wants to get back at the Niners who would probally be coming into that game hot if he is playing.

I'm still going to every game, I've been here longer than Lynch & Shanahan and will be here once they are long gone!

They were keeping them before to go watch Lance hold a clipboard?

That part

I cannot believe this. Saying it was racially motivated, WTF is going on?

My post is racist?

Sure they are.

100%, just watched these emotional midgets sell their tickets.

Riiiiiiight. They sold their tickets because Trey Lance the back up is not on the team!!! Dude was never going to play anyway for the 49ers. What difference did this trade make??

Yah the fact that you replied to me and explained tells me everything I need to know. I call BS.

This is so common with this group of fans it's played out.

Hope they are having a great day.
How to you give up 2 first round picks and draft a QB number 3 overall and never give him a chance?

One of the most mismanaged high draft picks in the history of the NFL!!! Lynch and Shanahan look like idiots!!! There is no way they will ever be able to rationalize the trade up for Lance, or giving him away for a 4th before they even know what they have? I'm a Brock Purdy fan, but this whole thing with Trey was just stupid from the start. Why is a team in their Super Bowl window willing to trade three No. 1's and and a No. 3 for a college QB with only one full college season of football? He was completely raw, so why draft a developmental project like that and expect him to step in right away and compete for a Super Bowl? Anyone with half a brain would have to realize that Trey would be a 3 year project under these circumstances; assuming he was healthy? But he wasn't. so that set him back two years. This is why if you really felt you needed to draft a QB, Justin Fields would have made more sense, because of his college experience level. The other stupid and short-sighted thing about this trade was that Trey was under team control for two more years (three is if you exercise the 5th year option), so you could have been assured of having him as at least a back-up for that time. Now, you have two back-up QB's who are only signed for this year, so if they walk at the end of the season, you are once again on the hunt for competent back-ups. Lynch and Shanahan are morons, but Kyle's ego will never allow him to admit what a huge mistake this was from the start. There is no way to spin this! I hope the local media are willing to hold Lynch and Shanahan's feet to the fire, and ask all the hard questions, because this whole situation is inexcusable. Someone should get fired for this.

This was one of the bigger points I was making when I said it was illogical to trade Trey. I still stand by that, especially because a 4th round pick isnt really much to write home about.

Like I said, Lance better truly demonstrate that he sucks.

They traded Trey for his benefit more than the Niners. Strategically it makes almost zero sense to deal a solid backup QB (2 or 3) for a 4th rounder in the middle of a Super Bowl window. But it would have been really difficult for Trey to stay here as QB3 after all he's been through and the way he was managed here. So it was better for him to be traded. They could have held onto him and probably gotten more in the off-season, and had him as insurance. But again, this is better for Trey, and the Niners at least get something back.

Well might as well get drunk now. I hope Allen shows up big tonight just so we know there's good QB depth. God know we're gonna need it with the current oline depth.

Or the starters could all stay healthy all season and build on to their top 10 performance last season.

When's the last time that happened with this team?

When did we rely on depth on the o line last season?

Are you serious joking? Or did you watch the games on the radio?

What? Can't answer the question?

You seriously want me to list every game a backup olineman had to play in games over the past 3-4 years to last years peak of 4th stringer Josh Johnson having to embarrass himself in front of the nation?

Yeah, I'll let you do that leg work 👍

No. I said last season. Can't you read? I guess you read Niner talk through the radio?

Josh Johnson didn't play last season? There wasn't back up oline playing when Trent Williams got hurt last year?

So you do actually watch the games on AM ??

Wtf does Josh Johnson have to do with this discussion? Is the guy who filled in for Trent still on this roster? And how much did it affect the offense?

Lol. I saw far more hate directed towards Fields and Mac Jones then I did Lance. There was definitely a reaction to all the "most pro ready QB, future superstar" stuff that people were going over the top with.
I thought all along taking a QB that raw was a mistake. It just didn't fit our timeline. Warriors went through similar with James Wiseman.

This is good management period.

IMO, it is now officially acceptable to call him a bust. One of the biggest busts in NFL history. To me, it is irrelevant how well he does in Dallas. I will be rooting against him forever.

lol. The bust is the 49ers strategy bungling FO. Pay a king's ransom for a franchise QB, then only give him 4 starts and decide to dump him for a 4th rounder just because Purdy had a nice half season run. There was no need to trade him right now. "Doing Trey a favor" is an idiotic justification for this.

Obviously we don't want to see succeed in Dallas and make the organization look even worse, but he never got even close to a fair shake.

So he should start over Brock?
