Quite a different situation for Fields. Gets to play on a bad team with no pressure and rack up reps. Not hard to imagine if Fields was drafted by 49ers and Lance by Bears it would play out similarly for 49ers and Bears.
I still don't understand why I keep seeing articles and media keep saying the 49ers failed to give Trey a good chance. They gave him the starting job last year and he was suppose to be the man!!!! He got hurt and someone else came in and played better.

Other than starting him his rookie year there is nothing else they could have done. He wasn't ready his rookie year and everyone was cool with him learning under Jimmy.

now all of a sudden the 49ers didn't give him a fair shot.

He dreams of killing 9ers in NFC championship.

Hes got at least two better talents to pass up to even get the chance

but hindsight is 20/20

Mac jones is an asshat...i would have been ticked with him on the 49ers, i would much rather have taken the gamble with Trey and failed then to have taken Mac in hindsight.

That QB draft is looking like s**t.

Wilson, Trey and Mac look like trash.

Fields is a great runner/athlete. Not totally sold on him as a passer yet.

Lawrence looks good.

I guess it lifts any awarkdness. That's good. All pressure moved to Brock.

He already had pressure. Trading the 3rd QB changes nothing.

It's not a fair shot. But at the same time Brock came in and stole the job. I just think it's really dumb to trade him to a nfc rival. Like really dumb lmao.

I am "white knighting" for NY because all offseason his and my statements have been repeatedly misrepresented by certain posters. I have said from day 1 that I have no idea if Trey Lance is going to be good or going to suck (and still believe this), yet was called a Trey fanboy and other names for simply wanting him to have a chance to prove it one way or the other.

NY's position and reason behind it is clear as day. He has been a huge Trey fan and a huge Brock doubter here. We have both seen this kind of behavior here from some posters repeatedly over the past 12 years. People dig deep in their positions.

Trey got a chance, a few of them, and he lost his job. Having him start over Brock just to get a chance is not a great plan.

This is like the argument that if the 49ers took Rodgers he would have been like Alex Smith and Smith would have been Rodgers. The cope is real

He should have tried to stay here. Dallas is not going to be any better for him.

Anyway, I hope he gets some opportunities to develop. But he's not a 49er any more, and worse, he's a Cowboy, so RIP.

He gets away from Kyle so it is already a win for him.

he is now on the team with the coach who developed Matt Flynn, Brian Brohm, BJ Coleman and Brett Hundley.

Good move for him.

Right there with ya tank, but now, in Brock we Trust

I'm so gay for Brock that my girl bought me his jersey in June. Lol and I'm not someone who owns jerseys. Hahahah

All of this is true.

Lol if you think this place (especially the QB threads) will be about actual football. Hasn't been that way for the past decade I've been here. Wasn't before and won't be tomorrow.

I disagree that's all you were saying. I think (know) the people who argued with you would as well. I argued with you a s**t ton.

Either way, let's move on. I can respect differences of opinion and I appreciate your passion as I've said before. We're all Niners fans in the end and we have different philosophies and ideas about what's best for the team.
this whole situation was not hard to see if you were paying attention to what ShannaLynch were saying and doing ever since they resigned Jimmy Gesus last year

I would much rather have Brock than Fields.

For me, is not that the 49ers didnt give him a chance. He got one, and got hurt.

My point is and has always been that 4 games isnt enough of a chance to make definitive conclusions on a player's future. I get that Brock came in and took the job. I am pumped for Brock. But at the same time, I refuse to say Trey Lance sucks or will never be good because he wasnt good in the 4 starts he had. Both things can be true.
