I still don't understand why I keep seeing articles and media keep saying the 49ers failed to give Trey a good chance. They gave him the starting job last year and he was suppose to be the man!!!! He got hurt and someone else came in and played better.

Other than starting him his rookie year there is nothing else they could have done. He wasn't ready his rookie year and everyone was cool with him learning under Jimmy.

now all of a sudden the 49ers didn't give him a fair shot.

He got hurt because he was running between the tackles.

That was half of why he was drafted though.

Fields would be where Trey is if he was drafted here. He should thank his lucky stars Kyle passed on him.

Because the Bears are an elite franchise ? Trey is where he is, he couldn't beat out the last pick in the draft even though he had two more years with the playbook. They did Trey wrong, for sure. Overpaid by a mile. Weathered the storm though, and are a top 3 team still. Granted Micah Parsons or Patrick Surtain would have been nice. Screwing up top 5 QBs happens, and it kills franchises like Raiders, Jets, Browns, etc. Didn't kill the 49ers, not by a long shot,

I don't think we would be in the same situation at all. Fields would of been able to use his legs much better and open up passing lanes. And have much better talent around him.

it's a ridiculous excuse to say he would be. Lance had no business going where he did and to this situation.

I disagree that's all you were saying. I think (know) the people who argued with you would as well. I argued with you a s**t ton.

Either way, let's move on. I can respect differences of opinion and I appreciate your passion as I've said before. We're all Niners fans in the end and we have different philosophies and ideas about what's best for the team.

I agree. That might be what his daily Jargon has been for past 12 months or so. It is faaaaar from all he's been saying.

Agreed… though I didn't think a trade would materialize (at least prior to this week)*

Riverdamus nailed that part. Mandatory unblockings baby… lol

LOL funny part is I never personally attacked any trey stans in here, they just hated my assessments on their dude so much they couldn't stand to read it! instead they would choose the lazy road of ad hominem attacks...

No he wasn't. People just didn't want him because he had a mediocre skill set that no one felt merited a top 3 pick. Being that he went 15th that was completely accurate.
He absolutely was and anyone that's says otherwise wasn't paying attention or is blind at best.

It was clear they wanted some security if Trey couldn't handle the starters job. He was horrible against the Bears and my guess is after 3-4 games he would have been benched and JG put in instead. Trey's injury made that happen sooner. Lucky Brock emerged to keep their strategy of an inexpensive QB room alive.

Lance would be feeling pretty bad now, like he had been done over. I wish him the best at Dallas.
I think there is more to this trade then just, "We have found or QB and we found a good deal to offload our 3rd string guy".

I wonder if they felt this was going to cause a big locker room issue because Lance was showing that he was not happy at all about he decision of him being 3rd string. This smells of, "We HAVE to get rid of him and we will take anything at this point, and if there are no takers, we will cut him".

For me, is not that the 49ers didnt give him a chance. He got one, and got hurt.

My point is and has always been that 4 games isnt enough of a chance to make definitive conclusions on a player's future. I get that Brock came in and took the job. I am pumped for Brock. But at the same time, I refuse to say Trey Lance sucks or will never be good because he wasnt good in the 4 starts he had. Both things can be true.

Come on SWH, then tell it to Kyle.. he made a definitive conclusion, we can also.. you don't have to, sure but some of the arrogance of "there is no logic" in your position, which you have replied to me. I mean I laid out all the trade logic a few weeks ago.. clearly there was some logic!

YOU SAID SWAP 7th ROUNDERS. Cmon man. That is not the same thing as what happened.

The conclusion that Kyle made was that Purdy has the keys to the kingdom. That is NOT the same thing as saying Trey is never going to be a good player in this league....and you know that.

Don't overthink it. From all reports, he did all the off-field stuff that anyone could to improve. However, there was just no way he could overcome the lack of college experience and come to a team that was on a win-now course.

I said since June that I still think a trade is realistic, and I got attacked for it. Lol I said it wouldn't surprise me like it would some.

River supported me! Lol good call on that he was getting traded.

Dude. No. 90% of your b******t is wrong. This is what happened: Trey Lance got hurt. Jimmy G got hurt. And Brock Purdy had the 5th best Total QBR in the entire NFL and lead the league in passing touchdown percentage. At this very moment right here, and not a SECOND before it, Trey Lance's fate was sealed:

Anything that happened before or after that is irrelevant. That was the moment Brock became the 49ers QB.

no dude I was right on a lot of sh!t regarding TL, you just weren't paying attention

Its being reported that Trey requested the trade. So I am guessing the leak came from his side to force Kyle's hand.

Kyle only wants QB's that can throw on time, accurate 99% of the time, and in Rhythm. That's not Fields.
Ugh.....Anyone else......not the Cowboys.....

How am I supposed to hope for the best for him when it can only help them?

Ah well, best of luck Trey. Had a rough hand here due to a lot of uncontrollable circumstances, but best of luck.

You had people wishing he would die in a car crash and attacking his family. I've never seen that level of vitriol directed at any other player or prospect. The thread is still there, people were saying some of the most outlandish stuff imaginable about a young guy they didn't know.
