I wonder if they felt this was going to cause a big locker room issue because Lance was showing that he was not happy at all about he decision of him being 3rd string. This smells of, "We HAVE to get rid of him and we will take anything at this point, and if there are no takers, we will cut him".

Its being reported that Trey requested the trade. So I am guessing the leak came from his side to force Kyle's hand.

Agreed. He absolutely needed a new home, but such a damn shame it had to be there.

YOU SAID SWAP 7th ROUNDERS. Cmon man. That is not the same thing as what happened.

The conclusion that Kyle made was that Purdy has the keys to the kingdom. That is NOT the same thing as saying Trey is never going to be a good player in this league....and you know that.

Obviously there was more conclusions than just Brock became the guy.

Darnold's signing showed that. The competition confirmed it. And paying him 10 plus million or so to finish out his contract with another team (a playoff rival no less) for a 4th round pick and 6 million in cap savings definitely shows it.

Agreed… though I didn't think a trade would materialize (at least prior to this week)*

Riverdamus nailed that part. Mandatory unblockings baby… lol

LOL funny part is I never personally attacked any trey stans in here, they just hated my assessments on their dude so much they couldn't stand to read it! instead they would choose the lazy road of ad hominem attacks...

I said since June that I still think a trade is realistic, and I got attacked for it. Lol I said it wouldn't surprise me like it would some.

River supported me! Lol good call on that he was getting traded.

and don't forget, they signed the red headed Irishman and Brandon Allen to fill the QB room after they moved lance... I think KS hoped TL would outgrow his suckiness this spring/camp but I didn't think it would really happen thus the signing of SD/BA
I've been out doing honey-do stuff around the house and just heard that Lance was traded to Dallas!!!! Dallas???? WTF. Dallas??? I have nothing else to say.

He wants that at minimum. It's the starting point. Do that and be an awesome runner? Kyle will love that player. They're unicorns dude.

I'm gonna lay out the trade logic, you're gonna tell me "there is no trade logic" and then a trade happens, and you ding me on not getting the exact comp nailed.. SWH, I cannot win with you.. I did post earlier, I didn't get the comp just right, I didn't see as much comp!

It was clear they wanted some security if Trey couldn't handle the starters job. He was horrible against the Bears and my guess is after 3-4 games he would have been benched and JG put in instead. Trey's injury made that happen sooner. Lucky Brock emerged to keep their strategy of an inexpensive QB room alive.

Lance would be feeling pretty bad now, like he had been done over. I wish him the best at Dallas.

It's not an inexpensive qb room strategy. It's a Brock was more impressive than anyone else so we are gonna roll with him strategy.

I think Kyle signed those guys with the mindset of "I'm going to give Lance a chance this off season but if he doesn't impress, I'm moving on". I don't think he made up his mind early, I think he really have Lance a chance but he's just not capable at this point in time.

I still don't understand why I keep seeing articles and media keep saying the 49ers failed to give Trey a good chance. They gave him the starting job last year and he was suppose to be the man!!!! He got hurt and someone else came in and played better.

Other than starting him his rookie year there is nothing else they could have done. He wasn't ready his rookie year and everyone was cool with him learning under Jimmy.

now all of a sudden the 49ers didn't give him a fair shot.

He got hurt because he was running between the tackles.

Watch his college highlights, he did a lot of that.. a lot

Yes, it COULD show it.

We signed Darnold when there was uncertainty with Purdy and Lance. Maybe you are right, that he was signed because Kyle didnt believe in Trey. But maybe you are wrong, and he was signed as major insurance.

Maybe Trey asked for a trade and we didnt want to.

None of us other than Kyle knows for sure.

It's funny cause not a lot of people took us serious but we were pretty spot on how the off season would go. Lmao everyone thought I was nuts when I kept seriously saying Brock would be back for camp.

that's when a lot of people rooting for Lance for start first has their heart broken.

Was the pick conditional at all? Some places I'm seeing that word but not anywhere super reputable.
