I haven't seen anything confirmed. I've seen both but I don't think it's confirmed

Definitely 49ers history but not NFL history. I believe that belongs to the Ricky Williams draft trade.

Nah. Off the top of my head the Ricky Williams, Herschel Waker and OJ Simpson trades were all worse.

It's still OJ
Looks like a locker room preservation move. Lance was clearly not happy about the demotion and dudes in the locker room like him. Literally a repeat of the Jimmy g problem last year except Lance hasn't done anything at all

Yes, it COULD show it.

We signed Darnold when there was uncertainty with Purdy and Lance. Maybe you are right, that he was signed because Kyle didnt believe in Trey. But maybe you are wrong, and he was signed as major insurance.

Maybe Trey asked for a trade and we didnt want to.

None of us other than Kyle knows for sure.

Alrighty, lol.

We did this trade because Trey wants it is not a serious take. But you do get to hide behind the point that nobody involved has spelled it out publicly in clear terms.

Is what it is.

I think this one tops OJ. Both horrible trades
So what's the story? Did Lance and his agent leak that he was QB3? Cause the niners def didn't - it screwed up their trade offers. If Lance and his team did it, then f**k them and i hope he sucks even more.

How many 1sts did they use, and how many games did they get?

No way. Trading lots of picks for a washed up RB just to sell tickets trumps swinging and missing in draft.

Did any of these cost more than 2 1sts and get less than 5 games?

Now that is asking a lot.

He just can't play. He fell to QB3, and you don't holster a QB3 at some ridiculous cap charge for multiple years. My take. As soon as he fell to QB3, he was finished. That's why Matt M was so daft, he was saying 'what's the big deal, lineups change all the time, QB3 isn't a big deal'. It was.

YOU SAID SWAP 7th ROUNDERS. Cmon man. That is not the same thing as what happened.

The conclusion that Kyle made was that Purdy has the keys to the kingdom. That is NOT the same thing as saying Trey is never going to be a good player in this league....and you know that.

Obviously there was more conclusions than just Brock became the guy.

Darnold's signing showed that. The competition confirmed it. And paying him 10 plus million or so to finish out his contract with another team (a playoff rival no less) for a 4th round pick and 6 million in cap savings definitely shows it.

To a large degree, that is hindsight.

AT THE TIME, the Darnold signing was because there was no guarantee Purdy would be able to play at all this season and Lance was still in recovery mode from his ankle injury. Darnold was the best option available as insurance to have some level of experience at the QB position. Nothing that has happened since then has changed the primary reason that Darnold was signed.

Lol Ricky Williams was at the very least a badass in college for more than 1 season in a relevant college program. And actually played games for the Saints.

Trey just sucks. I was BEGGING the Niners to not take him
