What the Cowboys plan on doing is what the Niners should have done and that is develop him for the future. They will probally restructure his contract next year to make it more affordable. People forget he is only 23. There is no rush.

rookie contracts can't be restructured.

I wanna say after the 4th year it can be, because the5th year is optional. I may be wrong though.

It is a good thing we are off the hook for his contract this year and next year as the cap space will come in handy. I am still in shock though. I though he would be hanging around here all year at least. Suppose FO didn't think they would get a 4th. Sounds like Trey was really p issed with being demoted. Can't blame him though. It was a big come down.

Trey didn't want to sit and develop.. Trey isn't going to get much help in Dallas

What? Where did you get that?
From Kyle, Kyle wanted Trey to stay. But Trey requested the trade

How some of you reach conclusions is strange. He didn't ask for the trade because he didn't want to sit and develop, as QB2 he'd have been doing just that. He thought he was going to be QB2 and that didn't happen, additionally, there were likely other things happening behind the scenes that we may never know about.

odds are he was just looking at the situation... Dak is one of the better QBs in the league and at least some of that fan base wants Cooper Rush to be the starter, that is an uphill climb for Trey. They have a franchise QB, and their very own version of Brock Purdy who has been a fan favorite.

Why would Trey want to go to Dallas....on the surface that looks like LESS opportunity then on the 49ers.

At least on the 49ers you have a one year wonder and a guy who has bounced around the league. They both might be studs who knows...... we have 7 good games on Purdy, and 6 or so ok games from Sam to close out last year.

Who knows what happens to Dak in the future, but right now odds are Trey is not going to learn a new system and unseat Dak and Cooper Rush this year...

He also confirmed Trey asked to be traded, and they gave him permission to look for a new opportunity.

Kyle being very transparent. That was an interesting presser for a preaseason postgame. I suggest all 49er fans listen to it. It touched on many topics surrounding Trey.

He gave the impression at the end that he felt they had to move on and took money into consideration (7mil over two years)...

So he makes it seem like it's Trey's idea to want to be traded, but also that Kyle wanted to move on himself.

Reminds me of previous relationships I've been in where I would make the breakup seem like the other girl's idea.

Imo... we should've still saw what Brock looked like this season before moving on from our investment/potential and that rookie contract. That's worth 7mill imo.

He's not going to lie about that. Trey would call him out. Can't lie about that in front of the media.

Not saying he lied about that. More so pushed Trey to want to leave. Make it seem like is his own decision Imo.

I honestly do believe if Trey and Sam were able to play this last preseason game, and Kyle made the decision next week.. Trey wouldn't have requested a trade like that.

But with Kyle making the decision before that game.. making it obvious to Trey he really couldn't win the backup role back during the season through practice (like Kyle just said to the media)...it was basically going to be #3 the whole season. Imo Kyle forced the issue on purpose.

If he cared about giving us the best chance at winning a Super Bowl this season, he could have handled this in a better way to stay on Trey's good side... again I'm coming from the perspective if Trey had to come in this season.. he would still help us get wins.

But imo he just wanted Trey off this team and let everyone know Brock is the guy no matter what. We've seen that before in this league. I don't always agree with that approach, but it is what it is.

It sounds like you're just reasoning yourself into a position that Kyle was somehow at fault here.

Kyle delivered bad news to Trey and clearly Trey didn't want to be here after not getting what he felt he deserved. Trey could have taken the news like a professional and worked his tail off to improve his position on our depth chart. I very much doubt we'd be trading Trey for peanuts if he had not demanded to be traded.

It's simple. Kyle and the team wanted him to stay but trey didnt want to be here anymore. So who let who down? Who betrayed who? From my view it seems the team did trey a solid. They didnt have to trade him, they wanted him. Trey didnt want to be here. Just let this thread die or lock it now. He isnt even on the team. He didnt want to be here and now hes on our arch enemy. We dont need to root for this dude

Kyle said in the press conference that he basically told Trey it would have be virtually impossible for Trey to improve his position on the depth chart this season as the 3rd String QB.

Kyle gaslighting trey for 3 years is enough to want to leave. Hopefully Kyle is next to be gone. Overrated head coach who thinks he's untouchable.

Kyle must've forgot he doesn't like to protect his qbs. Like having a 3rd string TE block your "new franchise" qb . What a lying ass fool lmao. Y'all will see it yet again this year.

Overrated? Top 3 coach in the league is overrated now I guess.

Top 3 coach based on what? He's got no super bowls lmao. More like top 20
I feel a bit bad for Trey...when Lynch said that Trey said, "I'm sorry", just feel a bit bad for him. I think the decision to go with Sam bothered Trey idk..when it comes down to it, I think money was a considerable factor in this. Not sure if he will get a good opportunity at Dallas, sure hope he does. It sucked that he had the injuries and that the window closed the way it did for him. NFL is cut throat man lol. Seems like several from Dallas are excited. All the best to Lance 💕
