Greer has already been told he's getting cut after the game today, they're letting him play to try to earn a spot elsewhere.

it'll be Dak, Cooper rush @ 2, and Lance @ 3. He's guaranteed $6M by the team so they're not cutting him.

a cowboy fan made a good point, he said the team rarely Carry's three QBs, so now another position is going to lose out on a roster spot just to carry Trey. Lol

Gier is looking sharp. He has missed a couple of throws but only by inches. He is reading the defense well. To me on this first half, being the only time I have seen him, he looks better than Lance. I hope he finds a good home.

I'm pretty shocked that another team wouldn't part with a 3 or 2 for a shot to see what Trey has. It's not like he's a proven failure. He's still so raw. Would have been nice to root for the kid, but going to the Cowboys makes that impossible for me.

I'm not shocked at all. He's garbage. Getting more than a 7th was a steal.

It is not about being a proven failure. It is about being able to stand up and play well enough to be in the NFL

Only a few coaches have the clout to make an attempt at a developmental QB, and most of the ones who do are brand new coaches picking early. So they get their QB in the draft.

Yeah, it's a head scratcher. Maybe they're trying to put pressure on dak? Or find a replacement for him in two years? He's going to want a ton of money on his next contract and they're already paying him a ton. It's hard to build a good team when you're paying one guy $60M+ a year, they also have $35M In dead cap space over two years after his contract ends. That's astronomical.

I disagree. The team gave him every opportunity considering the team was competing for the Super Bowl when he was drafted. It was a good situation for him to sit and learn for a year before facing live bullets. Bringing JG back was a wise move that protected the overall interests of the team, especially considering Lance had been injured. JG accepted the backup role with grace.

In the end, it was just a bad match overall.

It's ok to disagree but it's pretty evident from all accounts and the results that they weren't sold on Trey for long if ever.

They gave him the reigns last season but kept Jimmy around to hedge their bet with Trey.

It's hard for a young kid to win over the locker room when the team keeps the guy who battled and won and bonded with that locker room. You saw articles before even week 1 saying how if Trey struggles they will go with Jimmy.

Thats not a way to fully support your guy. Look at what the Patriots did with Mac Jones. They got rid of Cam Newton and made sure Jones could play loose and not worry about the proven vet behind him.

It is what it is and I don't get wtf we were thinking but they definitely didn't help Trey feel like they were 100% behind him as their guy.

Clearly last season, the plan was for Trey to be the starter, so they tried to trade Jimmy. But Trey's lack of development gave the team no choice but to get Jimmy back last minute. That was on Trey. He wasn't ready at all.

Gier looks way better than Trey. He can execute. Trey is not even functional at this point.

He had the opportunity to stay and fight for the spot but had a tantrum and ran off to the Cowgirls. Unlike Jimmy G who had a never say die attitude and stayed in 21 and acted professional all year and won. Again in 22 Jimmy G ate humble pie and renegotiated his contract and accepted QB2 but was ready to step up and win again when his opportunity arose. Trey never had the never say die attitude and was never ready to lead the team despite it being given too him. I felt a little sorry for him at first but when I saw it was his decision to run off to the Cowgirls to be a QB3 I lost all respect. He wont develop there either because of his attitude. Note Brock Purdy was ready to ball when his opportunity arose and despite being injured in the NFC Championship he is ready earlier than expected to participate in TC and preseason games. Purdy played like the No3 pick of the draft was expected to play. Trey played and became Mr Irrelevant. The QB who never was.

OMG this isn't about Jimmy. Get over it.

First of all we don't know what Jimmy asked for or what he didn't. 49ers claiming Trey asked for a trade. Did Trey say that? Maybe he did or maybe it's a convenient way for the 49ers to sell it was a mutual decision.

I can guarantee you Trey would rather go to another team but the 49ers took the best offer so this whole "we did what's best for Trey" thing is GM speak. It was mutual if not more on the 49ers looking to move him. It was clear in hindsight with the moves they made this offseason. Trey isn't stupid. And this is an easy sell for fans "oh he wanted to be traded and went to a rival team"

If they planed to move him, they wouldn't have gave him so many reps at TC. Kyle wanted him to succeed, but Trey is simply not where he needs to be at this point.
