Yeah, it's a head scratcher. Maybe they're trying to put pressure on dak? Or find a replacement for him in two years? He's going to want a ton of money on his next contract and they're already paying him a ton. It's hard to build a good team when you're paying one guy $60M+ a year, they also have $35M In dead cap space over two years after his contract ends. That's astronomical.
Agreed on those points about Dak but not sure how Trey is a likely solution to those problems. He's not getting the playing time he needs to develop and Dallas is likely not going into a full rebuild in the next couple of years. They are a win now team just as we are.
It's low risk for them in the sense they gave up a 4th and are seemingly fine with overpaying a QB3 but Trey will have not seen the field in 4-5 full years at the earliest, barring injury or a complete meltdown for a solid-good QB in Dak and possibly Rush as well. This is not going to work out for them, or Trey.
