The media circus that follows around Dallas will chew him up and spit him out, at least the coaching staff and front office here felt responsible for him and had a stake in his final outcome to save part of their reputation, not to mention kind words flowing from the locker room and media and probably most importantly a very vocal set of 49er fans.
Now he is heading to a team that appears to have no plan for him when they picked him up, he is sitting at 3 again behind a cult like figure in Cooper Rush...and to top that all off the dude he is replacing just had a nearly perfect game. Grier is coming off a preseason he went 67 of 84 for 604 yard with 4tds passing....in preseason....
Trey is behind an 8 ball, and the narratives are ready to write themselves. This does not look like a forgiving situation to ask for forgiveness in as you struggle along in your development.
Trey screwed himself.....
The situation here wasn't perfect but he's going from a situation where the coach and GM genuinely wanted him to succeed. Doesn't matter if some believe that or not. They knew his success was their success and he was well liked in the locker room.
now he's in a situation where the head coach didn't even get consulted about him and will cost a depth piece on the final roster. It also doesn't matter if he succeeds or not, he's a throwaway piece now, if he succeeds great - if not, who cares - kind of thing.
in some ways I think he just went to a tougher situation cause dak is firmly locked in for two years, Jerry jones will play him no matter what cause of his cost. Cooper rush is a winner there at 5-1. Lance is a random project. It's more of a cut throat culture.
i actually feel bad for him, idk how he will fit in there or feel about it. I genuinely believe he was better off staying here as the 3.
